RAW HITS
Miz & Morrison vs. Punk & Kingston: John Morrison and The Miz were o.k. in their pre-match promo talking about how they are better than classic teams like the Freebirds and DX. They had some very good lines, and some not so good ones too. Their match with CM Punk and Kofi Kingston was a good tag team match. It was nice that the match didn't go to commercial in the typical spot. Little changes like that break the cycle of monotony that often permeates WWE television. The match had good action and went a good length. It also had an unexpected ending with Miz getting the clean, albeit sneaky, pin on Punk. The end works well as the more experienced team got the better of the less experienced one.
Priceless Makes a Statement: Team Priceless certainly hasn't been well utilized in the last few weeks on Raw. This week, they weren't utilized much, but they were utilized effectively. Their destruction of Cryme Tyme before their scheduled match was very well done. They really made a statement. Yes, Manu was part of it giving them an upper hand, but that is to be expected in a heel stable, which is what they are presumably forming. Time will tell if the group grows beyond the current three men, but at least they looked strong this week.
RAW MISSES
Knox Video: There was nothing wrong with the video on Mike Knox itself. The problem is that it was on Raw and Knox is on ECW. It left me confused. Why are they hyping an ECW wrestler on Raw? Is he coming to Raw? That would make some sense for showing the video, but the video never said that he was coming to Raw. And if he is, why? It hasn't been that long since the draft and wrestlers can show up on just about any show that they want. So, why bother having him officially switch brands? The video made me ask too many questions.
Gauntlet Situation: The early segment with Chris Jericho and Batista verbally sparring was going o.k. until Mike Ademle interrupted to announce his most recent Ademle Original. Then, everything started to suck. Ademle gave another poor performance. He repeated himself and looked lost, even when looking at his notes. The double gauntlet match that he announced was confusing. Nobody seemed to know what the rules were going to be or how the match was going to go down. Things got even worse with t he actual match. It seemed very arbitrary why Batista started one of the three matches, but Jericho started the other two. Obviously, starting puts you at a disadvantage, so why would Jericho be put in that situation? That is backwards booking, making the heel champion have to go through the hard ordeal that a babyface usually has to do. That is o.k., but not when he looks so weak in the process. This made Jericho look really weak, and it didn't do much for Batista either. It didn't do much for William Regal, Mark Henry, or Kane either. It didn't make me want to see Jericho vs. Batista at the PPV either. It was a big confusing convoluted mess.
Cyber Sunday: WWE needs to cancel this PPV. Every year, they have a chance to do something really creative with the voting choices for Cyber Sunday, but every year they manage to mess it up. I don't have the time to go over every match and stipulation at the moment, so I will focus on the format of Cyber Sunday. This year, instead of voting online, fans have to vote by text message and paying 99¢ for that right. That sucks. What makes it worse is that there is one stipulation only that gets voted online, and that confused the heck out of Jerry "the King" Lawler. If the WWE employees can't get it right, how do they expect the fans to? Also, running down the entire PPV line up takes about three times as long as a normal PPV because they have to keep recapping the voting situation. They explained it over and over again, and it just took up so much time. There were some technical difficulties. The announcers weren't always in synch with the graphics. It is a mess. And who wants to pay to vote for these stipulations and opponent?
