IMPACT HITS
Amazing Red & Suicide vs. Motor City Machine Guns: Holy. Sweet. Goodness. Amazing Red looks like he hasn't lost a step since he was last in TNA. When he and Shelley started off the match, I honestly thought the match was on fast forward. Suicide and Red together worked well together, and while MCMG had some excellent tag team maneuvers, Red was on a completely different page here. So now we have Amazing Red back and Christopher Daniels back as active wrestlers -- could this mean an actual push of the X-Division here? Drool.
Kurt Angle flashbacks: I know that this isn't the first time that TNA has done these flashbacks for Angle, but whenever they do, the flashbacks do their job. They remind us of just how much of a badass Angle has been over his career. I'll admit, I'm not happy of the fact that Angle is towards the tail end of his career and can't wrestle a full-time schedule (see also: Sting, Mick Foley), but one thing about Angle is that every single time when he does work, he works his ass off in the ring (do not see also: Sting, Mick Foley). As a fan, you have to admire that.
MCMG calling out Christopher "Suicide" Daniels: It makes sense. Sabin and Shelley have put themselves over in the past as being the Internet-savvy techno-geeks of TNA. It's not that hard for someone with some basic sense of wrestling sites like PWTorch to scour the Net and see all the talk about Christopher Daniels playing the part of Suicide. It shows me that the Guns actually have a brain! I get so frustrated when wrestlers have to play the stupid role of not knowing anything about their storylines other than what they actually see, like when interviews happen backstage that no one is around to witness, except for the camera crew and mic people. Hello, there is a thing called instant replay people! The fact that the Guns have some common sense about Daniels being Suicide is a refreshing change.
IMPACT MISSES
Foley's Foolishness: For yet another week, Mick Foley was made to look foolish on camera. He blew off the attacks on both Jarrett and Angle like nothing happened. And then Foley expects to get help from Jarrett, the Motor City Machine Guns, and/or Samoa Joe to back him up against the promised attack from Angle? A more sensible thing for Foley to do would have been to yield his power as an executive shareholder and threaten Angle with fines and/or suspensions if he did anything. But instead, Foley looked wimpy looking for help from his worst enemies.
Useless Unhyped Gimmick Matches: Last week, I complained about the unnecessary ladder match between Taylor Wilde and Sojourner Bolt. This week, we got two gimmick matches that contributed absolutely nothing -- the weapons match between Abyss and Cody Deaner and then the stretcher match between Awesome Kong and Madison Rayne. I won't bother giving each of these matches a Miss, so I'll just lump them together. TNA continues to waste these type of matches when everyone knows what the outcome will be before the match even starts. I can't understand how TNA refuses to even announce these specialty matches without even so much as a week's advance notice -- the fan's expectations get lowered when a gimmick match that is built up well happens (which, in TNA, is very rare). How hard is it a week ahead of time to announce some of the matches booked for next week's show, especially if it's a specialty match?
ODB's Hairdo: Did someone kill a rooster and stick its tail on ODB's head? Nuff said.
A.J. Styles & Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash & Booker T: Last week, I commented how Styles carried Nash to an actual decent match, and how it surprised me. Everything that their match was last week was the exact opposite this week. The static between Joe and Styles is not being bought by fans, and Joe's whiny-ass attitude is just not going over. Styles said it best in his interview -- we don't want this ridiculous Nation of Violence, we want the original Samoan Submission Machine who ran roughshod over the entire TNA roster for almost a year and a half.
