IMPACT HITS

Foley Loses It. It took TNA some trying to get there, but they're finally doing a solid job of defining Foley as not just an executive of TNA, but as being totally, one hundred percent out of his gourd. I could have done just fine with only having the one last video segment at the end of the show (more on that later), but there's not much doubt anymore that Jarrett will be the fourth man in the main event at Sacrifice.

Chris Sabin vs. "Don't Call Me Christopher" Daniels. I freely admit to being a fan of the X-Division in TNA, and this match between two of its former top stars just scratched the surface of what may be the potential of a revitalized X-Division. Excellent match that I would have loved to have seen go about another five minutes longer.

Amazing Red & Suicide vs. British Invasion. In case TNA hasn't shoved it down your throats enough here, they are pushing the tag division. Which is just fine, considering that WWE can't (or won't, depending on whom you believe). Amazing Red was, for the lack of a better word, amazing. And Suicide (who I'm assuming now is Kaz under the hood) held his own too. I also think that Brutus Magnus makes a lot better heel in the UK tights than he was with his ridiculous U.K. Gladiator gimmick. The after-match brawl involving MCMG and Lethal Consequences being taken out by Suicide and Daniels only furthers my expectations for a pushed X-Division. I wouldn't mind seeing a match at Sacrifice between the Guns and Suicide-Daniels, maybe with the stip of Suicide's mask being on the line if he loses.

IMPACT MISSES

Too Much Jarrett Video. If I was watching a documentary DVD about the life of Jeff Jarrett, then these clips spread out on the show would have been just fine. But, just like Foley's batch of clips a few weeks back, there were too many clips that had no point to them at all. The only clip that really needed to be seen was the finale that led to the attack by Foley on Jarrett.

Kevin Nash vs. No Limit. It's a Kevin Nash match. Do I really need to give that much of an explanation as to why it's a Miss? Didn't think so. And it did nothing to advance the Nash vs. Joe match at Sacrifice, not even with the mini-promo at the end by Nash.

Awesome Kong vs. Cute Kip. This was almost a Hit, until they made it another Stretcher Match. Enough already. We get it. Kong is an animal. Kong wants to mow through anyone in her way until she gets a shot at Angelina Love and the Knockouts title. I have no problem with Kong being pushed as a monster. But you don't need semi-protected chair shots to make your point. Just have Kong squash Kip. Was I the only one laughing at that? I didn't think so.

Booker T vs. Jethro Holliday. TNA, you did it again. You gave away a PPV-style stipulation match on free TV with absolutely no build-up and no hype. TNA had almost a gold mine on their hands here - there had never been a "I Quit" match in TNA before (at least not one that I can remember, if I'm wrong, so be it), and this match could have gone just as well with Booker T forcing Holliday to quit WITHOUT THE I QUIT STIPULATION! That would have made Booker look like so much more of a bad-ass and still build up the Booker vs. Styles PPV match without giving away this match stip away on free TV.

Chris Reed is a new PWTorch Specialist covering TNA Impact with a weekly Hits & Misses column, replacing John Mezzera who is shifting his Thursday duties to the new WWE Superstars program instead.
