PARKS BLOG: How TNA's new faces of Victoria, Douglas, Raven, and Burke fit in - Version 2.0

By Greg Parks, Torch specialist

PWTorch VIP members have first-look access to all of Torch Smackdown specialist Greg Parks's latest blogs in the newly upgraded VIP Forum. His blogs are published first in the PWTorch VIP Forum, and Parks interacts with other VIP members and Torch staff and contributors in the blog comments area afterward. Some of Parks's blog entries will be exclusive to the VIP Forum.

Last week, three wrestlers made their debut/returns to TNA, and two more are scheduled for the future (so spoilers are below). Here's how I see them contributing to TNA:

-Victoria: I think she is a big addition to the Knockouts Division, and a great foil for Angelina Love. I think she could have a good feud with Awesome Kong down the line too if they turned Kong back heel. Victoria is the first real woman TNA has brought in who might be able to look Kong in the eye and nearly match her in power. Great move by TNA here, as she was being underutilized for quite some time in WWE.

-Shane Douglas: He's on a short-term contract and didn't show up in the best shape, so I'm wondering why they decided to bring him in to feud with Daniels. Plus, he wasn't even an active wrestler the last time he was with TNA. He can still cut a decent promo, but I'm wondering where his in-ring skills are at this point. I don't see him hanging on, unless it's an out-of-the-ring role after Slammiversary.

-Raven: I like the storyline where he re-united with Dr. Stevie. I think they could really explore their relationship and how they're trying to stop Abyss from getting into the hardcore act that they once went through. Again, I don't know if he has much in-ring value at this point, and like Douglas, he's on a short-term contract as well. I would expect him to stick around longer than Douglas, especially with a ready-made feud and angle set up.

-Elijah Burke: Burke wrestled at the last set of TV tapings and I was disappointed WWE let him go. I think his in-ring performance stood out, and he also carries himself like a star. He certainly makes the mid-card a little more muddied, as I don't see him jumping into the main event picture like so many WWE cast-offs. But I think Burke could find his way to the main event in TNA sooner than he could HAVE in WWE if he sticks it out long enough in TNA.

-Shawn Spears: The former Gavin Spears wrestled Burke at the last tapings, and while neither are under contract yet, they did look good according to JB's Twitter Page (I can't believe I'm citing THAT). Spears didn't have a chance to show much in WWE and basically served as enhancement talent. He has a good independents track record, but I'm afraid that with his look, he may get lost in the vast expanse that is the TNA mid-card. I wonder if they'd put him in the X-Division, even though he isn't the traditional high-flyer. He'd be a good hand in the ring for sure though.
