IMPACT HITS
Shane Douglas' Promo: A marginal Hit here, but a Hit nonetheless. Shane Douglas still looks in decent shape, and a program between him and Daniels should produce some good matches. And his promo against Daniels and TNA in general made some logical sense. You had to laugh at one point though - Douglas said he's a fan of TNA, watches it all the time, and even HE wasn't sure who actually made the decisions!
Beer Money, Inc. vs. Consequences Creed & Chris Sabin: Now I have to admit, I don't see how this match had anything to do with the angle of MCMG and Lethal Consequences going after Suicide, but the action was nice and crisp. And I have to agree 100 percent with Hubert O'Hearn's TNA Impact Hits & Misses Column that it made perfect sense that Creed and Sabin, who had never tagged before, would botch a few moves. Nice segment.
Daffney's Interview: Daffney plays the psycho part extremely well - during her WCW run and now in her TNA run. Her interview was well done, and she gave good reasons for why she is the way that she is. The video package later on that showed the reasons why she snapped were even better. Personally, I would have reversed the two segments and have the video package explain why Daffney's interview was so strange, but at least the overall program of Daffney as a loon was delivered.
Eric Young's Promo: Talk about a money promo. Eric Young may have gotten the longest interview time of his entire TNA career, and he delivered in spades. I mentioned last week that I wanted to see what kind of heel that Young was going to become, and Young is starting to develop that character. The video before the segment gave nice background and Young cleaned up all the loose ends. See, this is how the Daffney segment should have gone with the video first, then action second to make the whole thing click. TNA needs to keep building up Young's heel character and have him win some matches now.
Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash - Lethal Lockdown Match: You know the main reason I'm giving this a hit? Not because it was another pay-per-view gimmick match thrown away on free TV. Not because of any of the action in it. But because TNA ACTUALLY BOOKED IT AND HYPED IT IN ADVANCE! Holy sweet merciful Jesus, someone out there is paying attention! A whole week ahead of time the fans knew this match was coming and it gave them something to look forward to. The match itself was an okay weapons match, and I would've liked to see it end with something more than a rear naked choke followed by a hockey stick shot, but at least TNA finally got the concept of hyping the main event the week before. And they're doing it again too with next week's matches. Could someone out there in TNA-land actually be reading my columns? I'm just saying.

45 Minutes Later, We Get a Card: If there's one thing that WWE does well, it's lay out somewhere in the top portion of their shows a complete rundown of the card for the night. True, sometimes they open with a hot promo or a match, but you almost always know what's coming up in the night fairly soon. It took TNA nearly 45 minutes into their show before they gave the fans the layout of the card so that they could tune in for the remainder of the show. Sure, you had the little backstage segment between Mick Foley and Kevin Nash to give the main event a little hype, but the graphics package of the matches are something that need to be shown on the air soon. TNA seems to miss this fact week after week.
Jesse Neal vs. Matt Morgan: A green wrestler versus a stiff worker. Not a good combination for a match in any book. God, I hate agreeing with Don West anytime, but Neal had no business making his first match against Matt Morgan. Not because Morgan whooped him from one end of the ring to the other, but because Morgan's style and Neal's style just clashed. And did Stevie Wonder style Neal's haircut? Good Lord man, find a barber!
