ECW HITS

Tatsu vs. Regal: Yoshi Tatsu has been showing some good potential so far in his early ECW run, and this match against William Regal continued that trend. This was a good 6 minute match. Tatsu showed more of his offensive prowess here with his multiple kicks and strikes than we've seen from him before. Regal showed why he could easily get a bigger push than he's gotten ever since his suspension last year. Tatsu is also connecting very well with the fans. He needs different entrance music, but certainly has shown his potential in his first month.

Jackson - Kozlov: This was an interesting moment. I assumed that Vladimir Kozlov was coming to the ring to get into Ezekiel Jackson's face for some reason. I like this better. It had an "anything you can do..." type feel to it. Was Kozlov trying to send a message to Jackson? It will be interesting to see where things go from here. A few weeks of them one upping each other might be fun (assuming neither is in a match longer than this squash). I'm not looking forward to a potential match between these two, but the build up to it can be good.

Abraham Washington Show: This is a minor Hit. The fact that guests of Abraham Washington point out how lame his jokes are makes the talk show a bit better, but not much. I also liked the set up on the entrance instead of in the ring. It gives the show a different feel from say the VIP Lounge. Looking past the stupid jokes, the segment gave Christian and Tommy Dreamer a chance to have a verbal confrontation to give a bit of a personal issue into their ECW Championship match at Night of Champions. Their intensity over their argument, starting with Christian's line about Dreamer crying was very good. It was a good way to end the build after the hype for the match was derailed last week.

ECW MISSES

Ask the Divas: I should say that I would much rather see this type of video segment on ECW than a Raw Rebound. Also, it was fairly short. However, it didn't accomplish anything. I believe (I could be wrong) that this is a wwe.com feature. It should probably stay there. Or, have it on Smackdown or even Superstars if it has to be on tv. It is a waste of time, but especially on ECW which has only 1 hour and a roster of wrestlers to get over. WWE did a good job doing that this week. They had twelve wrestlers make an appearance. However, they could have done more, perhaps a Zack Ryder interview similar to Shaemus'. Or, just give another minute or two to Tatsu vs. Regal or Goldust vs. Shelton Benjamin.

Reks vs. Burchill: Notice in the above Miss that I didn't mention this match as being one that could have used another minute or two. I didn't want to see any more of it. Tyler Reks came out to an overwhelmingly apathetic crowd. Paul Burchill has been around for quite awhile now, but he always loses and hasn't built up any crowd heat. That lead to a very quiet match, one of the most quiet matches in recent memory. Neither wrestler has enough of that it factor (at least they haven't shown it yet) to get the crowd into it. Even Reks' springboard dropkick failed to get a rise from the crowd. There were three chin locks which didn't help. And, it ended on a roll up. I guess they are protecting Burchill, but at this point I'm not sure why. This was a chance to show Reks' finisher, but he didn't.
