SUPERSTARS HITS

Christian vs. Regal: I really enjoyed this match between Christian and William Regal. Regal showed why he deserves a better push. There is a timing issue, having the #1 contender for the ECW Title in such a competitive match right before Night of Champions, but it was still a strong way to show Christian able to fight off adversity and still get the win. The match had good action and told a story as Regal consistently attempted to get count out victories by knocking Christian to the floor. The match really picked up nicely at the end. I particularly liked how Christian hit back to back missile drop-kicks, one from the middle rope, the second from the top rope. It was also a great idea to have Christian win with his springboard sunset flip. He has been doing that move a lot lately, and while it looks impressive, it doesn't ever get him a win, until now. Having wrestlers win with moves other than their main finisher every once in a while is a smart move to help pop near falls when they use those same moves in future matches.

Bourne vs. Noble: This was very good for a five minute match. Evan Bourne and Jamie Noble worked hard during their time to put on a good match. It did remind me a bit of some Impact X-Division matches where the wrestlers aren't given enough time so they cram as much action into the time they have. However, at 5 minutes, this was actually 2-3 minutes longer than many of those TNA matches that I thought about. Like the above match, this one featured very good (and very high energy and high impact) wrestling action with a story. It is so simple to give a match a story (where the X-Division is often lacking). Here it was a simple idea that Noble was going to avoid the shooting star press at all costs. The announcers talked about it, and every time Bourne started to go up top, Noble kicked it into another gear to stop him. It was his focus and every time he needed to sharpen that focus, he did until the end.

Kane vs. Morrison: This was another good match. John Morrison continues to shine in the ring. I have already listed his recent opponents in good to very good matches and you can add Kane to that list. Kane put on a good performance and Morrison was able to create the type of movement and energy needed to help elevate Kane to a good match. It went 14 minutes and was fun to watch. Morrison is slick on his moves, like his reversal into a spinning DDT. The ending was strong as Morrison got the win, but Kane saved face by being disqualified. I don't mind the DQ finish as it made sense in this context, and the visual of Kane throwing the chair into the flying Morrison was great. I'm not a fan of the Great Khali vs. Kane feud.

SUPERSTARS MISSES

No Ryder: Really, there wasn't much to complain about on Superstars this week. Like I said, I'm not a huge fan of Khali vs. Kane, but that doesn't warrant a Miss. I'm not a fan of the Raw Rebound, but they get a pass this week since it didn't air on ECW also. So, my only complaint (and it really isn't a big one) is that Zack Ryder has had some good showings and is starting to make a name for himself on a weekly basis on Superstars. He wasn't on this week, and since he wasn't on ECW either, I actually missed him (Woo Woo Woo - never thought I'd say that!).
