SMACKDOWN HITS
Undertaker vs. Mysterio: This was a good match while it lasted. It was predictable that the match wasn't going to go long and that Batista would get involved. It made sense to go that route so I am fine with the short time. I enjoyed it. It was the first time we've seen these two in a singles match against each other and they pulled it off. Mysterio looked strong for taking it to the Undertaker as well as he did. The Batista run in was well executed. I really liked what happened after the match as Mysterio got the better of Batista to stand tall at the end. Obviously, a triple threat is in the works, possibly for The Royal Rumble which would be fine with me.
DX vs. Hart Dynasty: This was a good tag match that would have been even better with more of a build to really allow newer fans a chance to learn some of the back story between Triple H and Shawn Michaels and the Hart Family. That being said, the match itself was good and for long time fans like myself, we could appreciate moments like when Triple H held Tyson Kidd for several seconds in a vertical suplex position and pointed at DH Smith (yes, Striker pointed out that it was a move of his father's, but more back story was still needed). The match went over 15 minutes which allowed them to extend the typical WWE tag formula a bit with a mini-hot tag to Michaels early in the match, before the more formulaic hot tag to Triple H later. The Hart Dynasty held their own and helped put on a good match.
SMACKDOWN MISSES
Cooking With Vickie Guerrero: These two segments were not good. They were totally out of character for Vickie to actually be acting in a nice way when she is a heel. Teddy Long seemed out of character for being there too. Of course, WWE had to get in a fat joke when she put in all the butter. Hornswoggle's interruption wasn't good. It wasn't funny or entertaining in any way.
Jericho - Hart Dynasty - DX: After the bad start to Smackdown, things picked up a bit with the decent 8-man tag (not good enough for a Hit though). Then things went downhill with this scene. I like the idea of giving the Hart Dynasty some mic time and Chris Jericho is usually great enough to carry any segment. But, it didn't work here as nobody in the audience seemed to care about anyone in the ring since they were all heels. DX certainly didn't help matters doing their typical act where they don't know their opponents' name and say that nobody cares about them. The Tickle Me Big Show gag was horribly lame. So were the Canadian jokes for that matter. This was bad.
Undertaker vs. Mysterio Not Main Event: I know I gave the match a Hit, but it really should have been the main event. I know I gave DX vs. Hart Dynasty a Hit too, but it should not have been the main event. Their places should have been switched on the card. The World Title and World Champion Undertaker should be treated with more respect, as should Rey Mysterio who helped pop a huge rating for Smackdown the previous week. DX are big stars, and being in the main event on most other weeks would have been perfectly fine, but they should not have been this week with a World Title match.
Little People's Court Replay: I assume that Triple H and Shawn Michaels have some sort of clause in their contracts which requires WWE to replay the highlights (or low lights as it were) of all of their lame-ass skits from Raw on Smackdown. It is too bad, because I am sick and tired of having to sit through crap like this. I hated these scenes on Raw and hated the fact that we had to sit through a replay of them later in the same show! Now we have to sit through more? Bah-humbug I say.
