WWE Raw Reax #2: "WWE finally stumped me ony a storyline and I can't wait until next week." Sep 4, 2007 - 10:36:00 AM
Bryant Mooney of Stamford, Connecticut: (8.0) Best: Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga/11:07 pm EST, "Things Are Looking Up" Worst: Cena attacking Regal. I find it amazing how during a week with a chock-full of Suspensions that I've seen the best two hours of Raw this entire summer. Maybe this suspension was the wake up call that Raw needed. The Umaga vs. Jeff Hardy match was good, and it was great that they used that ending to make the pinfall more shocking that just to pin him cleanly. I like how they are pushing Beth Phoenix, but it's not catching on as I see. I think she has the potential to become the next Jazz of the WWE. They completely oversold the Cena with the STFU on Regal. Cena's yells during was overdone and not really needed at that time. The two tag team matches of the night was very good and decent. It's good to see clean and decent wrestling during a summer of squash matches. I see potential in Cody Rhodes; yeah, he needs more time to develop but I think he will be a good mid-card wrestler that will get a bigger push eventually. The main event was a letdown but the aftermath made up for it. The McMahon confrontation took the cake of the show. It was very good how they reveal who was originally going to be the illigitmate child which was Kennedy but put a whole different twist on it and "Things Are Looking Up." It was also great when Triple H was shown and said, "Hey, Steph." I was just as confused as the McMahon's were when Raw went off the air. WWE finally stumped me ony a storyline and I can't wait until next week to find out more.
Ariel Cardona of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico (7.0): An entertaining Raw, to say the least. I won't extend my comments, but those are the hightlights, at least for me: the Triple H destruction of Umaga (at least for a month, of course), which did more for Umaga's character than most people would admit and made Triple H what he should be: the barbarian. Funniest segment goes to Jillian Hall & Daivari. Just make Jillian wear a black Pocahontas wig and they'd be Sonny & Cher. And call me crazy, but I really think the illegitimate son of McMahon will be... The Coach! The black lawyer nailed it for me and I really remember Coachman using "things are looking up" phrase several times. Cena-Regal-Orton segment has left me intrigued on the ending of their match at the PPV. If Orton is going to be suspended, what better way than make Cena anihilate him?... another detail on why I think The Coach will be the son: the illegitimate son was said to be adopted. Guess what? Coachman WAS adopted!
Ian Carter from Niigata, Japan. (7.5) Best Match: (tie) IC Title Match, WGTT vs. London & Kendric. Worst Match: Mixed tag match. My fan-of-the-night award goes to the guy in the ROH shirt dead center in the hard camera shot. Signs promoting other companies can be confiscated, but WWE isn't going to strip their fans naked (and if they do ask you to wear a replacement shirt... hey, free shirt). Just a couple of plotline questions. Cena: What's up with the dog tags? I have no idea why he kissed them before attacking Regal. One line from J.R. saying that they used to belong to Cena's dad during his service days would have explained that away. Triple H: Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know what the Latin phrase on Triple H's entrance video means? "Rex" isn't up there so it isn't "King of Kings." Does Hunter really need ANOTHER catchphrase? McMahon Family: Why are Linda, Shane, and Steph the only ones allowed to talk like normal people? Calm, realistic, yet emotional and effective. If everyone talked like that, then wrestling wouldn't have it's (inaccurate) reputation as TV for the illiterate.

PWTORCH FORMAT CONVENTIONS
For the sake of clarity to our readers (and to save us time editing these same things over and over), please follow these simple conventions when writing Torch Reax:
-Wrestlers teaming together should be connected with "&" symbol (e.g. Hunter & Michaels, Devon & Ray) or with a "/" (e.g. Animal/Hawk, Harris/Storm), but not dashes and not the word "and."
-To designate wrestlers who are fighting, feuding, or wrestling each other, put a dash (-) between them (e.g. Michaels-McMahon, Jarrett-Sting, Hogan-Andre) or use "vs."
-The word versus should always be abbreviated this way: "vs." with a period afterward (not "v." or "v/s" or "VS" or "VS." or any other way).
-Plus, it's just our policy, but we don't indulge wrestling promotions' strange spelling fetishes where they spell Raw, Smackdown, Heat, Impact, etc. with the haphazard capitalization of various leTTeRz. It seems very "junior high," so no Raw (it's Raw), no iMPACT (it's Impact), etc.
-Please try to avoid overuse of dot-dot-dots. If you have a thought that's "trailing off," you can use for effect, but otherwise, just use periods, commas, and our personal favorite, semicolons if you dare. We have always had a policy of only one exclamation point and no ALL CAPS. Let your words convey the meaning of your point. There's many to choose from out there.
