WWE No Mercy Reax #4: "I had finally given up on the product and they reel me back in with..." Oct 8, 2007 - 11:44:43 PM
Joey C of Melbourne, Australia (2.0): Best Match: Last Man Standing Worst: C.M. Punk vs. Big Daddy V. After sitting through months of shoddy booking and generally terrible TV, I had finally given up on the product and they reel me back in with the possible return of my favourite wrestler. Unluckily for me, I was subjected to another subpar PPV with severe Triple H overload, vomit gags, Khali, a messy Diva match, and another disgraceful ECW match. This PPV was clearly the Randy Orton-Triple H story, and they both played their parts well, but it rendered the remainder of the show meaningless. Rey-Finlay was pointless, the prison match incredibly boring, MVP-Hardy more nauseating than clever, and can anyone explain how a two minute non-finish starring Big Daddy V is meant to sell the ECW brand to anyone? I'm sure the loss of Cena was tough on them, but I thought this could've been spun into something positive. Overly optimistic and incredibly naive on my part. I will not be sitting through another three weeks of trash for what's sure to be another massive letdown.
Jon Quennell of Wasilla, Ark. (7.5): Best match: Triple H vs. Randy Orton Main Event. Worst match: C.M. Punk vs. Big Daddy V. The only reason I ordered this PPV was because of Orton and he didn't disappoint. From his distrusting surprise in accepting the belt, to his outstanding performance in the Last Man Standing match, he almost made the PPV worth $40. Kudos to Triple H; when he first came out, I feared the worst. What surprised me was that he dropped the belt later. I thought that he would be content just destroying the top two heels on Raw the same night, but apparently he might care for the industry. As for the ECW "match," why wasn't Big Daddy V mad at Matt Striker? There was no reason for the interference, as all Punk had done was one dropkick. I paid $40 to watch Matt Hardy eat two slices of pizza then blow chunks? Team Xtreme! Thank god they "saved" the tag title match for free TV.
Jay Povo of Sturbridge, Mass. (8.5): Best: Last Man Standing. Worst: ECW Title Match. Anybody who thought this was a bad PPV because Y2J didn't show up set themselves up to be let down, and that's not WWE's fault. I'm giving such a high score because of the unpredictability of the show; 20 minutes in and I wanted my money back, but by the end I was a happy fan. Having Hunter win the belt right at the start angered and confused me. My friends and I discussed what they could possibly be doing through the meaningless six-man tag and the lame ECW match. We figured it would be a three way between Trips, Orton and Umaga. After Triple H beat Umaga in the middle of the show, it was obvious the LMS was going to be the main event. That was something to look forward to while sitting through a television SD match and a WHT match that was sleep inducing until the last 60 seconds. The main event was epic. It was so good to watch a PPV main event without already knowing who was going to win. Great back and forth action, drama, suspense, everything you could ask for in a main event (even Triple H ''Hulking Up,'' which gets a 9.5 on the unintentional comedy scale). And that includes the finish for once, Orton deserves that belt much more than Hunter does right now. The WWE Championship storyline throughout the night was done so well, from both the writing and wrestling aspects, that it made up for the lackluster undercard. So Vince finally gives the fans what they want, Trips adds another number to his title reigns, and Orton walks away with the belt. Everybody is happy. Well, except the Chris Jericho fans.

PWTORCH FORMAT CONVENTIONS
For the sake of clarity to our readers (and to save us time editing these same things over and over), please follow these simple conventions when writing Torch Reax:
-Wrestlers teaming together should be connected with "&" symbol (e.g. Hunter & Michaels, Devon & Ray) or with a "/" (e.g. Animal/Hawk, Harris/Storm), but not dashes and not the word "and."
-To designate wrestlers who are fighting, feuding, or wrestling each other, put a dash (-) between them (e.g. Michaels-McMahon, Jarrett-Sting, Hogan-Andre) or use "vs."
-The word versus should always be abbreviated this way: "vs." with a period afterward (not "v." or "v/s" or "VS" or "VS." or any other way).
-Plus, it's just our policy, but we don't indulge wrestling promotions' strange spelling fetishes where they spell Raw, Smackdown, Heat, Impact, etc. with the haphazard capitalization of various leTTeRz. It seems very "junior high," so no Raw (it's Raw), no iMPACT (it's Impact), etc.
-Please try to avoid overuse of dot-dot-dots. If you have a thought that's "trailing off," you can use for effect, but otherwise, just use periods, commas, and our personal favorite, semicolons if you dare. We have always had a policy of only one exclamation point and no ALL CAPS. Let your words convey the meaning of your point. There's many to choose from out there.
