Raw Ratings Reax #4: " McMahon's character is annoying, petty, and vindictive, and so is he in real life." Oct 11, 2007 - 2:14:25 AM
Kevin: Once upon a time Raw was a "do not miss show." This is not the situation any more. Cena was shoved down our throats, Hornswaggle was the love child, Triple H is superman and is destroying and has destroyed almost every wrestler on the roster, Mr. Kennedy is jobbing every week, ECW has been destroyed, Big Daddy V is prancing around on my TV without a shirt and for no reason involved in the ECW main event on a pay-per-view, cock jokes, Carlito and Benjamin the list goes on of wrestlers that CAN wrestle and are not in main events or decent programs, if you are not related or married to a the boss's daughter then you are not pushed on the show. Why do I want to watch anymore? Vince does not care what I want to see. My choice of what I want to see is not just mine; people have saying it for two years during every match that Cena wrestled, but I guess if "You Suck" means that you are going to get the push of your life. Well guess what, Vince? Your product sucks. I want to see Mr Kennedy, Hardy, Flair. Carlito, a decent tag team division, Intercontinental division, even women's division not boobs but someone with talent, not Triple H "hulking up" - that is so '80s - and destroying all of your talent. I really was counting on the love child story to be big, but it ended up really really small and that is too bad because it just cemented the direction that Raw has taken. They stink, plain and simple.
Nick Vincent of Round Rock, Tex: Others have already articulated why Raw ratings are down, so instead let's go right for the throat with some radical proposals. First, McMahon needs to swallow his pride and take his upcoming Congressional ass-whooping like a man. Admit you were wrong, promise to clean up WWE, and mean it. And then go away. Your character is annoying, petty, and vindictive, and so are you in real life. We don't want to see that stupid strut every week, as you remind us for the 4,798th time that you're the boss. We're sick of all stories and matches revolving around you, who pissed you off and who you want to punish. Your immediate banishment from TV would solve a lot of problems. Next, kill off ECW, since you've royally screwed it up anyway. Then cut loose the dead wood from all three shows (and there's a lot) and consolidate to a leaner, smaller talent pool. Add in a few new faces - steal from TNA, go to the indy leagues. I don't care. Find them. Let a newly shaken-up roster fight it out to see what new stars emerge. Lose the skits. Lose the Divas. Unify the WWE/World titles, and both tag titles. Go to two shows a week. This would be a good start. Of course, you won't listen. You're arrogant. So I'll just wave bye-bye as the good ship WWE continues to sink.
Frank Hyden: I believe that one of the reason that Raw's ratings were so low is because of the great and dramatic (if extremely sloppily played) Monday Night Football game. I don't think there was much channel-changing in a game like that. Not that I think the MNF game was the sole reason for the low ratings, but I do think it was a contributing factor.
Steve H of California: There are a lot of reasons Raw's ratings are down. Basically, the shows just are not interesting. Way too much backstage stuff that's boring. Not enough actual wrestling. I DVR all the wrestling shows and just flip through them now. It saves me time because there's not much that interests me. I used to be one of those fans who watched everything. My friend and I would get together to watch the shows. Now, there's just nothing that compelling. You don't get that feeling that "anything can happen." It's more like, nothing will happen. Let these guys go out there and do their thing in the ring and on the mic and see what happens. Build up your mid-card talent. Bring in more jobbers for TV and save your big stars mostly for PPV. And let's have one tag team title and either the U.S. Title or I.C. Title, not both. Keep your divas on one show and your cruiserweights on another. Actually, get rid of the Cruiserweight Title and make it a TV Title for ECW. Better yet, let's just get rid of ECW all together. Better than all of that, put the brands back together. That's what really needs to be done in my opinion.

PWTORCH FORMAT CONVENTIONS
For the sake of clarity to our readers (and to save us time editing these same things over and over), please follow these simple conventions when writing Torch Reax:
-Wrestlers teaming together should be connected with "&" symbol (e.g. Hunter & Michaels, Devon & Ray) or with a "/" (e.g. Animal/Hawk, Harris/Storm), but not dashes and not the word "and."
-To designate wrestlers who are fighting, feuding, or wrestling each other, put a dash (-) between them (e.g. Michaels-McMahon, Jarrett-Sting, Hogan-Andre) or use "vs."
-The word versus should always be abbreviated this way: "vs." with a period afterward (not "v." or "v/s" or "VS" or "VS." or any other way).
-Plus, it's just our policy, but we don't indulge wrestling promotions' strange spelling fetishes where they spell Raw, Smackdown, Heat, Impact, etc. with the haphazard capitalization of various leTTeRz. It seems very "junior high," so no Raw (it's Raw), no iMPACT (it's Impact), etc.
-Please try to avoid overuse of dot-dot-dots. If you have a thought that's "trailing off," you can use for effect, but otherwise, just use periods, commas, and our personal favorite, semicolons if you dare. We have always had a policy of only one exclamation point and no ALL CAPS. Let your words convey the meaning of your point. There's many to choose from out there.
