WWE Smackdown Reax #1: "Vickie but for once came across as comfortable in her performance." Oct 13, 2007 - 3:41:00 PM
Seth Berger of Hammond, Ind. (6.0): Best Match: Kane/Undertaker vs. Matt Hardy/MVP. Worst Match: Anything else within the first hour. This show wasn't entirely bad, given the rating I bestowed upon it. I just couldn't fathom three post-match beat downs (Masters on Palumbo, Yang by the '50s Boys, and whatever that mess was after Rey and Finlay) being anything positive. (Plus, I was flipping between this show, the Red Sox-Indians game and the Blackhawks-Red Wings.) It's like the writers got a bit lazy and figured it was the theme of the night. The huge tag match was very good. The main event was not bad, and that accounted for about 98 percent of my score. Rey playing us with that bold-faced lie about how he never faced Finlay until last Sunday bugged me. You met in a championship contenders tournament just over a month ago, my friend. So, who's the number one contender now? Can't we just have Finlay get a shot at the World Title, "the one title he never wrestled for". (Lie #2: It was just at last year's No Mercy PPV; thank you Michael Cole.)
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: Kane/Undertaker vs. MVP/Hardy Worst: lame finish of Rey vs. Finlay; Khali vs. Noble. An "eh" show coming out of the PPV. The matches were okay, but nothing spectaular. I'm not sure why the Big Daddy V segment keeps playing, except for the fact that the Smackdown interview set is used. The Big Boot usually a lame move to show the size of the large person using it, but Festus's actually looked like it could hurt someone. And while they're not the best, Jesse & Festus are better than Deuce & Domino, though I'm not looking forward to a match between them. Hearing William Regal's theme was surreal when seeing Dave Taylor coming out. I was hoping to see the return of Paul Burchill, but this Drew McIntyre isn't too bad. Rey's interview was intruguing. My Spanish is all but non existent, but what little I can get, he talked about Finlay in English and Batista in Spanish (maybe). I'm still not sold on Vickie, but for once she came across as comfortable in her performance. I felt ripped off by the Finlay-Rey match. The match got off to a good start, then became a brawl that didn't look believable, then a stupid double DQ finish. I'm thinking "Okay, a triple threat with a guest referee. I can still live with it." Then Undertaker appears, and already it seems assumed that Finlay and Rey are out and Undertaker is in as no. 1 contender. Huh? This, after I felt that the best storyline on Smackdown has lost traction due to no fault of Matt Hardy and MVP. Those two are doing the best they can with what they have, but what they've had lately is a lot less than what they had when they started. I was even hoping for the possibility of a six-man match of Yang/Jesse/Festus vs. Noble/Deuce/Domino. Not expecting that now.

PWTORCH FORMAT CONVENTIONS
For the sake of clarity to our readers (and to save us time editing these same things over and over), please follow these simple conventions when writing Torch Reax:
-Wrestlers teaming together should be connected with "&" symbol (e.g. Hunter & Michaels, Devon & Ray) or with a "/" (e.g. Animal/Hawk, Harris/Storm), but not dashes and not the word "and."
-To designate wrestlers who are fighting, feuding, or wrestling each other, put a dash (-) between them (e.g. Michaels-McMahon, Jarrett-Sting, Hogan-Andre) or use "vs."
-The word versus should always be abbreviated this way: "vs." with a period afterward (not "v." or "v/s" or "VS" or "VS." or any other way).
-Plus, it's just our policy, but we don't indulge wrestling promotions' strange spelling fetishes where they spell Raw, Smackdown, Heat, Impact, etc. with the haphazard capitalization of various leTTeRz. It seems very "junior high," so no Raw (it's Raw), no iMPACT (it's Impact), etc.
-Please try to avoid overuse of dot-dot-dots. If you have a thought that's "trailing off," you can use for effect, but otherwise, just use periods, commas, and our personal favorite, semicolons if you dare. We have always had a policy of only one exclamation point and no ALL CAPS. Let your words convey the meaning of your point. There's many to choose from out there.
