WWE Raw Reax #4: "No real outstanding matches to note, but they all seemed to serve their purpose." Oct 16, 2007 - 4:31:07 PM
Stephen Horton, Birmingham, U.K. (2.0): Best Match: Randy Orton vs Jeff Hardy, Worst Match: Jillian Hall vs Candice. I went to this show last night, and living in the U.K., I was very excited about it was we don't see WWE all that often. First thing that happens when we arrive at the building, they are taking away everyon'es signs and banners! Posters that take hours to make are not allowed in the building. This is ridiculuos. I pay £60 ($120) for my ticket, and I should be able to support who I like. An awful decision that killed the crowd. From that point on the crowd had no interest. The only reason Igive it a 2.0 is becasue the crowd had some fun withLlilian, which is always good. She's brilliant! As for the show, it just passed me by. Bring back Chris Jericho now!
Adam Crawley of Christiansburg, Va. (4.0): Best Match: Hardcore Holly vs. Cody Rhodes. Worst Match: Candice Michele vs. Jilian Hall. This show did nothing for me. The idea of putting Randy Orton against all three of his possible opponents was good, but in the first two he looked tentative about wearing himself out. The best in-ring action was in the Holly-Rhodes match, which is not good, since neither of them is very creative with their moves. There are only two women in WWE who can actually wrestle, and neither one was in the women's match. They need to buildup Mickie vs. Beth while they scout the independents for some actual wrestling talent. The only good thing about Kendrick vs. Rory was Cade & Murdoch's mic ability on display. Santino is entertaining, but is it really gonna be that much of a payoff when Steve Austin hits him with a Stunner and drinks a few Steve-weisers?
Terry Thacker of Reynoldsburg, Ohio (3.0): Best match: N/A. Worst match: Umaga vs. Simmons. An incredibly dull show. No excitement or point at all. Three run-ins / non-finishes with Orton, as if he isn't enough of a chore to watch. That Umaga three "match" debacle and the Hornswaggle crap took up three-fourths of the show. Does anyone really care about Cody Rhodes or Hardcore Holly, either? I think Val Venis is on the new Triple H exercise program. Wow, has he ballooned up. Bring back Victoria to Raw so she can work a program with Beth and Mickie. That gives the Women's Division at least three realistic contenders. On a positive note, I like the more serious Highlanders. They could be a good power move - heel team. Outside of maybe the Mysterio-Finley match, the Cyber Sunday matches should all be landslides in the way of voting.
Brian Rathjen of Eldridge, Iowa: No real outstanding matches to note, but they all seemed to serve their purpose. The Umaga "demonstration" match was plain sadistic; beating up a poor jobber serves no purpose at all, and I sure hope McMahon compensates poor Andy Simmons well for having him endure this embarassment in front of (I'm sure) friends and family. I was just waiting for Triple H to run-in during the final segment to give Umaga a beating in the steel cage (or perhaps even "review" the stips with McMahon being the beating dummy after Umaga is taken out and Simmons herded to safety); all this to advance the Triple H-McMahon/Umaga feud. but that didn't happen and that was a disappointment. Oh well, perhaps next week will be better.
