TNA Impact Reax #1: "Cornette did logically explain why the decision in Kurt Angle's favor stuck." Oct 26, 2007 - 3:46:31 AM
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: Angle vs. Sting (until the finish); Cornette's explanation for title decision Worst: Way too much Angle nonsense otherwise I was rolling my eyes tonight more often than not. What was with Kip's ring attire? I swear he was channeling Billy and Chuck again. Unfortunately, it looked like a burial of the tag champions despite LAX getting the pin on B.G. Young vs. Storm didn't seem to do much for anybody; and why did the loser of the match, Young, celebrate with beer? Okay, I'm not too thrilled about 3D being monster heels against the X Division, but if done right, there may actually be something redeeming to it. 3D has a gripe, and in my eyes a valid one, about their tag title grief not being resolved. Motor City Machine Guns interfere in their match with the Steiners at the PPV. Delusion thinking makes the entire X Division guilty by association. What needs to happen next is that those who consider themselves part of the X Division stand up to 3D after taking their beatings, showing their true selves and their dedication to the division, some of the unburying can start. Two weeks in a row Kong gets her squashes; meanwhile the squashees get just enough offense in to show they may be able to actually show a women's division. Roode vs. Fatu didn't do much for anyone involved (including Christian and Joe). Consciously removing the nonsensical elements of the Angles-Nash-Sting leaves not much here to work with. The Angle-Sting match got off to a good start (maybe meant as a reminder of what was missed on the PPV) before the nonsense extended to the match end. While it was a pathetic finish, Cornette did logically explain why the decision in Kurt Angle's favor stuck. I still don't like it as yet again the World Title takes another credibility hit. By night's end none of the titles met much... again.
David from St. Louis, Mo. (8.5): Best Match: Angle/Sting Worst Match: X Division four-way. Okay, I respect that TNA wants to be creative and a little different than WWE, and that's where they came up with the confusing Nash/Angle/Sting stuff throughout the night, but having the World Title up for grabs in a tag team match at Genesis just screams "another overbooked TNA main-event." TNA since Russo was hired has managed to have the World Title program be more about stupid stuff not many people care about than the actual World Title. What happened to two guys fighting over being the best and wanting the top prize? Russo, this isn't 1998 anymore man! I have a feeling we'll see Booker T, which is cool, but TNA will overshadow Booker's in-ring excellence with overbooked bullsh--. Again, instead of featuring LAX as one of the best tag teams themselves, TNA has to debut a new member and have someone help them win? Come on, they had an awesome match at Bound for Glory, and they're back to the stupid Latin stuff. A.J. Styles & Tomko are the new tag champs for a week and they're losing in a meaningless match? Okay, Eric Young wins an exausting battle royal at Bound for Glory, and loses to James Storm two weeks later? Is he out of the tournament now? I'm confused. Team 3D cut that promo that lazy writers recently in TNA have always used when they "can't find anything else for them to do." The whole "TNA managment held us down" sh-- is so repetitve in TNA, with VKM and now 3D using it. And the X-Division gets sqashed like they are nothing again. What's the point, Jeff, Dutch, Russo? Awesome Kong was probably my favorite part of the show. She is for sure awesome. And her fued with Gail isn't over-booked! Fatu should not be beating Robert Roode, one of TNA's top names. Christian vs. Rikishi in 2007 in TNA next week, come on?! I feel like an idiot watching TNA cause they could be so much yet the writing is so terrible. The PPVs always are awesome but the Impact writing is so horrible.
