WWE Raw Reax #5: "I don't know if even Y2J can save us from this garbage."

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO BOOKMARK US & VISIT US DAILY

Tom Keiffer of Lima, Ohio (3.5): Best match: Cody/Holly vs TWGTT. Worst match: Main event. When Vince told HBK, "I know what you really want," I said, "health care? Retirement?" No just the title. I don't know if even Y2J can save us from this garbage. Nothing like unpushing London & Kendrick with a quick out-of-nowhere finish. Let me get this straight, Triple H can hang with Randy Orton and Umaga, but I'm supposed to get excited about DX? Will somebody please take William Regal off to the side and explain to him that Umaga doesn't have the letter "n" in it; he always says Umanga.

Steve Feinberg of Cleveland, Ohio (7.0): Best: Santino. Worst: Coach vs Boreswaggle. Personally, I don't care that Jericho didn't show tonight; what did show up was the most hilarious parody of a has-been Rattlesnake of all time, a Women's Champion who should not only hold the belt for a few YEARS (yup, YEARS, folks), but could easily be elevated into challenging a few men for belts, and a bit of simmering discord amongst the tag team champions. I hope Vince realizes what he has in Beth Phoenix. A sexy beast who happily bragged about injuring Candice Michelle and put the WWE on notice that she'll be happy to injure other divas. Too bad she didn't pummel the new diva contest winner just for good measure.Words last: Doesn't it always seem that the more McMahon segments a Raw has, the lower the overall "score" of the episode? Oh, almost forgot: What's a DX?

Simon Greig of Redditch, U.K. (2.0): Best Match: Santino. Like most weeks recently. Worst Match: No Y2J. I thought last week's show was too good to be true, the awesome writing and flow of the show replaced with the usual kind of fare that has blighted Raw for much of the year. Flat our boring for much of the episode and when the rumored return of Chris Jericho turned out to be a bust, I wondered why I actually stayed up late for the first time in ages to watch it. I guess I should have been wary about the hype - but it shows just how stale the product is that it takes somebody like Chris Jericho returning to get me interested in watching. He didn't exactly thrill me during his previous run, either. There were sparks of entertainment on the show - Santino is laugh out loud funny on the mic and the Hardy vs Kennedy rivalry is intriguing. But yet another DX reunion? I don't care if it is for one week only, I won't be staying up late to watch it. If Y2J does actually return next week... I guess I'll have to see it on YouTube - probably the most palatable way of watching the glimpses of good stuff each week.

Jesse T. of Beaumont, Tex (2.0): Best Match: Santino Worst Match: Predictability. Santino is pure gold on the mic, no doubt about it. Too bad his size and wrestling ability will not make him a bigger star in the WWE. As soon as the handicapped match was announced how many people thought to themselves why would Hunter be in a handicapped match when Shawn Michaels is in the building? Absolutely horrible booking. Other than the Glamazon and Santino, nothing else on Raw is exciting. I am not a Hardy fan, but he is ready and has been for a few months now to be a top tier player. His pops are great from the entire audience and he can put on a decent match. Someone needs to assist him with his mic skills, but other than that the WWE needs to let him break through. Three final thoughts WWE needs to really think about moving forward. First, if they do not deliver on the Save Us promos, people will stop tuning in to see the payoff. With the ratings recently on a down trend, WWE is trying to ride this wave of excitement, but in the process are turning more people off by not delivering. People will continue to tune in for a couple of more weeks, but they will turn the channel if they believe nothing will happen. Second, WWE and TNA as well need to look at the UFC and finally start delivering finishes! Just because someone loses does not mean their career is over. Randy Couture is a legend because he has fallen short several times and counted out in every fight but fans still pay to see him pull out a victory. Same thing can be said for Forrest Griffin and more recently Chuck Liddell. If Shawn Michaels would have gotten RKO'd at Cyber Sunday and got pinned clean, I guarantee he would still have fans buying his merchandise and tuning in to see him. People want to see comeback stories, the want to rally behind their guy to help him pull out a victory. It is not that hard of a concept to grasp. This will also help build PPV buys, again see UFC. Last but not least, whatever happened to the WWE creating their own stars? Other than Batista, Edge, and John Cena, what other stars have they created in the last three-to-four years?
