Mark Swiderski of Chicago, Ill. (6.5): Best Match: Y2J vs Batista. Worst Match: Kennedy vs Regal. FINALLY, even the owner himself said that Regal is not a draw! I have been saying it for years now. Just like Booker T, Regal is and never will be a draw. His wrestling matches are boring, and I don't understand why he is on the show to begin with. As for the rest of the show, great opening to start of the show. For some reason I can watch Umaga vs. Hardy every week and not get bored with it. I thought Batista vs Y2J was going to be a terrible match due to different wrestling styles, but they worked really well together. Even when not wrestling on the show, it's amazing to see that HBK is on a level on his own. I find is laughable that people bitch on here that they threw a PPV caliber match away when they won't even pay $40 to see a PPV themselves. From a business standpoint, sure, it is stupid to throw away big matches, but for people like me, I am getting a FREE top quality match on TV, so I won't complain at all. As for the main event, it was pretty basic stuff. I may be in the minority here, but I am digging Randy Orton's new theme music. It sounds bad ass and just fits him perfectly. All in all, pretty decent show but still is insane that there is another PPV in two weeks.
M. Dasko of Toronto, Ontario (6.0): Best Match: Y2J vs. Batista, Santino segment. Worst Match: Hype for Judgment Day 2 a/k/a One Night Stand. A PPV in less than two weeks? Are you serious? Why are three faces (Batista, HBK, Y2J) feuding and for this long now? Can someone please take the IC Title after defeating Jericho. He has lost two nights straight now and the people beating him seem to refuse to take the title. Santino needs to just become a manager as he's the best part of Raw each week, yet he either always loses or feuds with retired wrestlers or worse D-list celebrities. What is William Regal on anyways? I have a little conspiracy theory for this whole suspension thing that has been going on. The WWE came under a lot of scrutiny for its drug testing after the whole Benoit tragedy, and since then many wrestlers "on the rise to the main event" have been suspended. They are making an example of these guys on the rise to make the policy seem legit. Think about it, WWE clearly knows whos in violation of the policy so they give these guys (Smith, Kennedy, Hardy, Regal) a "major" push that consists of Raw wins and mic time, and then right before the trigger is pulled on the main event push, they are suspended. Then you look at already established main eventers like Randy Orton who have 0% body fat, guys like Cena who return surprisingly early from injury, and middle-aged wrestlers (Triple H, Batista) who are larger than ever.
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): Best: Regal vs. Kennedy; main event. Worst: Lack of or bad followup. The score I give tonight is a dual-edged one, as the crowd was way elevated for what was otherwise a pretty blah show. The matches themselves were fine enough and served the purpose to hotwire build toward One Night Stand. I suppose the easiest to build to in such a short time is rematches, but the caveat is that if it weren't for the Extreme Rules aspect running the PPV, the buyrate would be much worse. It's one that Shawn Michaels hasn't done before that I know of, but a stretcher match just seems to be way beneath him given his accolades. Batista continues to look like a fool for completely losing sight of the title shot screwjob in favor of wanting to be right over the issue of a faked injury. Ross and Lawler look like fools for not confronting this. And while Batista wasn't fooled again when Jericho sold a knee injury, he did nothing to followup it and hurt it anyway, again makig him look stupid. As it is what happens to Jericho now, especially when the crowd didn't elevate Batista-Jericho much? Jeff Hardy is tended to after the match with Umaga, but the only update was the booking of a Falls Count Anywhere match. I'm intrigued by the possibility of a Mickie-Katie match, but no such exploration took place after their promo. I actually feel sorry for Regal losing as he really seems to have no place on any show now. It fit the storyline better for Regal to lose, but Kennedy needed the loss worse in my eyes as he's been spnning his wheels for so long on Raw.
