WWE Raw Reax #2: "WWE demonstrated once again that it is consistently inconsistent."

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): Best: Evan vs. Rey. Worst: Miz/Morrison promo. Last night was a pretty solid PPV (despite crappy build); tonight was a nice aftermath show. Interesting change of pace in having Jericho come out to no music in the opening, then storming in to make his promo. The promo itself came across a little too whiny, as if his character is reverting back to a former version of his heel persona. The Orton-Adamle confrontation smells like Survivor Series elimination match build-up for Adamle's job, but it won't have the sense of urgency by the fans, as Adamle isn't as popular as Austin was in a similar position. And please tell me right now it won't come down to Orton and Michaels for at least the third time in four meetings. Thankfully JBL's attack on Shawn was explained, but was Shawn the only reason for JBL not getting his agreed-on future title shot with Jericho? Why was he not angry at Orton as well for not completing the job? Morrison needs to change his promo delivery; it's not getting the heel heat that Miz can generate. Not to mention it sounded a little too drawn out in enunciations. Along with all of this, a curious thing happened: Rey and Batista were booed. Rey wasn't booed so much for winning the match, but maybe as a signal that it's Evan's turn. Batista was getting, dare I use the term, "Cena heat" tonight. In his promo he didn't get it so much, but in the match a clear beacon of some fan resentment could be heard. With a three-hour show, a Miz/Morrison-DX match, and a steel cage championship match on the card next week, WWE looks to be starting the November sweeps with a bang!

Mike Omansky, Torch reader (6.5): A slightly above average Raw, and actually more satisfying than the PPV the night before. The main event tag match was a good follow-up, and pushed along the one-on-one Jericho-Batista match next week. Mike Adamle didn't mess up his role; he also moved his issues with Orton and Jericho along. JBL and Shawn Michaels were very effective in their roles. Santino was entertaining as always; what a pleasure to see him each week! Cameos by Piper and Honky were a nice addition. The tag title change was a strong match, and had very good action. The umpteenth Cena footage was a drag, as usual.

Sam Weiss of San Diego, Calif. (9.0): Best match: Either the tag team championship match or the Mysterio versus Bourne exhibition. Worst match: The Miz and Morrison promo. Well, after such a poor Raw last week, and a rather disappointing PPV last night, there wasn't a whole lot of motivation to watch tonight. Yet, I am glad I caught the show as the WWE demonstrated once again that it is consistently inconsistent. This was a very entertaining two hours. Two things stood out tonight. First, in the tag team championship match the tempo in the latter part was well done and the finish had a really good feel of accomplishment for Kingston and Punk. Second, both Mysterio and Bourne put on quite an exhibition of acrobatics - it makes me wish the WWE would put more effort into a light-weight division. The only let down tonight was the lame promo by Morrison. While Miz may not be the better in-ring showman, he certainly is the better talker. Perhaps Morrison could take lessons from Jericho (who is undoubtedly the best actor of the troupe), no? One question raised (skillfully) tonight - Did Randy Orton provide an out for the WWE to get rid of Adamle? Unlike many, I am not an Adamle detractor and there is a place for a manager to play a straight role, yet I wonder if Adamle will be made the fall guy for the ratings drop? I guess I'll have to tune in next week to find the answer. Finally, Santino and the retirees redeemed themselves from the poor PPV spot. The guitar - Yes! Oh, and it is always a good night when Mickie James is on!

We still welcome your 0-10 score and comments. To contribute your thoughts on WWE Raw last night, email to pwtorch@gmail.com. Please keep your thoughts to around 10-15 lines if possible to increase your odds of being published.

PWTORCH FORMAT CONVENTIONS

For the sake of clarity to our readers (and to save us time editing these same things over and over), please follow these simple conventions when writing Torch Reax:

-Wrestlers teaming together should be connected with "&" symbol (e.g. Hunter & Michaels, Devon & Ray) or with a "/" (e.g. Animal/Hawk, Harris/Storm), but not dashes and not the word "and."

-To designate wrestlers who are fighting, feuding, or wrestling each other, put a dash (-) between them (e.g. Michaels-McMahon, Jarrett-Sting, Hogan-Andre) or use "vs."

-The word versus should always be abbreviated this way: "vs." with a period afterward (not "v." or "v/s" or "VS" or "VS." or any other way).

-Plus, it's just our policy, but we don't indulge wresting promotions' strange spelling fetishes where they spell Raw, Smackdown, Heat, Impact, etc. with the haphazard capitalization of various leTTeRz. It seems very "junior high," so no RAW (it's Raw), no iMPACT (it's Impact), etc.

-Please try to avoid overuse of dot-dot-dots. If you have a thought that's "trailing off," you can use for effect, but otherwise, just use periods, commas, and our personal favorite, semicolons if you dare. We have always had a policy of only one exclamation point and no ALL CAPS. Let your words convey the meaning of your point. There's many to choose from out there.
