2/8 TNA Against All Odds PPV Reax

Brian Jaffe of Iowa City, Iowa (1.5): Best Match: Shelley vs. Young. Worst Match: Abyss vs. Morgan. In the interest of full disclosure, I will say that I missed the opening X Title match, but I heard that it was good. That being said, this was one of the worst PPVs I have ever seen in my life. Steiner just beat down Petey Williams, further burying the former X-Champ. Brutus Magnus looks absolutely ridiculous in that outfit. Awesome Kong vs. ODB was too slow. No matter how much TNA tries, I just don't care about Shane Sewell, and the match ended in just five minutes, terrible for a PAY PER VIEW. Abyss and Morgan put on a match that was so slow, I think I went back in time during it. They basically clunked their way through the match, with it never getting out of first gear. Beer Money vs. Lethal Consequences was predictable and not that good of a match. And the main event was dreadful, with a near silent crowd and the most anti-climactic finish to a major PPV main event I think I've ever seen. I would go as far as to put this PPV up there as worst PPV put on by a major wrestling company in quite some time.

Russell Jaffe of Brooklyn, N.Y. (1.0): Best Match: X-Title. Worst: Tin foil British gladiator. Look, pro wrestling is in a bad place starting 2009: ROH has had a major change in creative direction, WWE is trying to cater to children but not developing unique, interesting stars, and
TNA...well, this PPV illustrated where TNA stands. This is unquestionably one of the worst PPVs ever produced by a major American company. Not one single match was even CLOSE to being okay, with the exception of Shelley vs. Young. The rest was a carnival of stupidity and predictability. Shane Sewell and his hulking up? Scott Steiner burying Peter Williams (who is STILL dressed like Steiner, by the way?) TNA has a warped perception of what fans like in an underdog. Don't forget to job Sabin out to a Samoan-dropping British gladiator from the future-past! And, while WWE can be accused of keeping many stars in the main event for a long, long time, no one on the planet Earth was clamoring for a D-Von vs. Bubba Ray slam-off, while Sting and Angle wait on the outside. Sting and Angle are good, don't get me wrong, but TNA is in desperate need of new blood, and I feel they've poisoned their own homemade stars by making them look godawful. Weeks of stupid angles and home grown talent being buried culminated in this catastrophic PPV, full of b.s. matches and boring angles. I give it two years before WWE can release a "Rise and Fall of TNA" DVD...if anyone cares to buy it.
