TNA Impact Reax #1: "TNA has made their product so irrelevant and painful to watch..."

2/12 TNA Impact TV Reax

Alex Roberts in the U.K. (1.0): Another week and another awful edition of Impact, only this time around, I can’t bring myself to be annoyed or frustrated about it. I should be annoyed that after months of making anyone on the roster under the age of 40 look like an idiot, TNA decided that the man who should stand up to the MEM is not only a member of the MEM, but also has knackered knees and is apparently contemplating retirement. I should be frustrated that they’re making Sting the top face of the company and not Samoa Joe or A.J. Styles, but I just can’t do it anymore. I can’t make myself care about this product or its utterly ridiculous booking. I don’t care that TNA is wasting TV time by having Mick Foley tell stories from his career that absolutely no one cares about. Why is anyone going to tune in to listen to him recount something that happened years ago? How is that remotely relevant to modern professional wrestling? I should be frustrated that TNA can’t decide whether Jeff Jarrett is a wrestler or the founder of TNA. And I should care that they’re going randomly introduce Stevie Richards as a therapist, which is ridiculous in at least ten ways but I just don’t have the energy anymore. TNA has made their product so irrelevant and painful to watch that I’m done wasting my time trying to invest in it. A few months ago, I might have said that I didn’t want TNA to crash and burn but as of this week's show, I no longer care. In fact I would prefer them to be gone so that nobody mistakenly tunes into Impact and thinks that this is the face of professional wrestling in the modern world. I will however congratulate Petey Williams for making the best choice of his career and getting out of TNA, I’d also encourage everyone and anyone else on the roster to jump from the sinking ship while they still can.

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0) Best: Guns vs. Lethal Consequences; Sting promo. Worst: Steiner vs. Williams. Finally, the cracks in the Main Event Mafia are starting to show, but even then they still look good. Team 3D were almost an afterthought in the opening match and segment. No wonder Ray looked pissed. Sting's turn is all but complete. When Sting does finally break clean of MEM, should there be a replacement? Considering the way MEM's been currently booked, I would say absolutely not. Booker and Steiner did follow up their opinions on how Sting will/should react, but no follow-up from 3D on whether they are further convinced that "the old Sting" was back. I know Petey Williams is on his way out, but can't he get some props before he goes? Tenay and West don't even acknowledge ref Andrew Thomas attempting to help Petey (in response to his getting royally beaten by Booker a couple weeks ago). On top of that, it is Steiner who gets the spot pops. Not to say that the Frankensteiner wasn't impressive, but Petey deserved better. For someone having shoulder surgery only days ago, Matt Morgan seems to be doing miraculously fine wielding a chair at Abyss. The Knockouts gauntlet match and Guns-Lethal Consequences matches were allowed enough time to tell their stories and they were pretty fun to watch. Sojourner Bolt's turn at the Knockouts title, eh? Hmmm. Either the Kongtourage breaks up, or Kong might (hopefully) go rest her back after this one. Madison Rayne was in the final two - nice to give her a good first showing. Sting's turn is all but complete.
