2/16 WWE Raw Reax

Matt Johnson of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. (7.0): Best: Rey Mysterio vs. Mike Knox. Worst: Kane vs. Jamie Noble. Roddy Piper had his best mic work in what seems like decades. He didn’t scream, stayed on topic, and surely mixed in some real emotion. Piper, like Flair last week, showed why he was so great. Has anyone worked better in the ring this past month than Rey Mysterio? Between the Rumble, the tag match on Raw a few weeks ago, and the Chamber, he has proven his worth yet again. Hopefully tonight was his last night with Knox. Edge vs. John Cena appears set for WrestleMania, so John Cena can get a decisive win. Cryme Tyme appears to be in trouble as they didn’t even get the televised entrance. I still don’t know why Shane McMahon in street clothes is equal to Orton. Shane owned him the first three minutes of their fight. Orton’s punt was pretty stiff, and the finish of the show was intense.

Patrick Michael of Rochester, N.Y. (6.0): Best match: Beth Phoenix vs. Melina. Worst: Mike Knox vs. Rey Mysterio. Raw this week had nothing to do with wrestling but was built with the foundation of building WrestleMania six weeks away. The storylines started out very strong with Edge and Cena having a excellent opening segment and ending the show with the start of the Triple H and Orton program. However, the lack of actual wrestling was apparent and sadly the best portion of the show with Jericho and Piper will have largely been forgotten. Piper gave his best promo in many years having a clear point instead of his normal comedic rambling. Jericho again played the heel role to absolute perfection. The show overall would have been much better with one or two longer matches instead of the normal throwaway six-man tag and pointless Kane squash on Jamie Noble.
