WWE Raw Reax #2: "It seems to me this is all a cheap plug for the Legends of WrestleMania game..."

2/16 WWE Raw Reax

Adam J. Grammas of Westchester, Ill. (4.0): The first Hall of Fame induction after Mick Foley's departure, and The Funks go in. Vince really knows how to rub it in. How come whenever Steph is sitting down or squatting, she does it like a dude? How "ironic" that Triple H is called to help out on Raw right around the time of the draft. (And what was with that "boo" face at the end of the show?) He showed he played "The Game" as a team player by going to Smackdown for a year, now it's time for him to "go home." And so now either Edge gets drafted to Raw as well, or Taker goes to Raw for the first time in years. All very convenient! After watching Shane over the past month, I have to say his punches show more light than a morning sunrise.

Joseph Lawson of Las Vegas, Nev. (4.5): Best Segment: Shawn Michaels-JBL confrontation. Worst Match: SuperShane vs. Orton. First of all, I will say I'm glad Edge remained champion. His speech to kick off Raw was full of dynamic psychotic ranting. I suppose John Cena will be following edge to Smackdown? Cena's speech explained nothing and was more of a rant. We get it - re-match. The tag match with Legacy & Regal vs. C.M. Punk and Cryme Tyme was abysmal at best. I'm so sick of these matches, as they got little to no TV time and the Punk-Regal feud falls yet another rung down the ladder (as if it could get worse). The JBL-Michaels challenge to get Undertaker seemed rather unnecessary, as their feud should have peaked at No Way Out. It would have been more memorable to have Michaels come out and directly challenge the dead man. Yet, it was nice to see vintage HBK and his impeccable mic skills again. Chris Jericho is usually on point in his promos but he seemed to falter a bit. Then, we see... Roddy Piper? Seriously? He spits an emotional speech about legends memories of WrestleManias past and Jericho kicks him down and makes him beg. Is this angle going somewhere? It seems to me this is all a cheap plug for the Legends of WrestleMania game. At this point, we have three legends in a feud with Jericho and no direction for Mania. Almost the whole program, including the Rey vs. Knox match, barely had 20 minutes of wrestling. Wow. Now I know I'm not the only one sick and tired of SuperShane stealing the spotlight. Orton is the poster heel for WrestleMania and WWE as a whole. That being said, he should have been used better than this. The mere fact that Shane McMahon is able to even compete at Orton's level is absurd! Their street fight seemed at first to give Orton his much needed heat, and then, of course, the McMahon "heart" comes out of nowhere to beat the hell out of Orton. Legacy showed up to further make Orton look like a coward to show he needed help to beat Shane. Shane eventually gets punted (which he sells horribly) and Stephanie catches the RKO, which left me puzzled as I was expecting... Oh wait, Triple H shows up way too late to set up a predictable main event at Mania. I was expecting an answer to his transfer to Raw. I guess that comes next week. Overall another disappointing post-PPV Raw.
