Thursday Night TV Reax #1: "While hardly a perfect wrestling card, this episode of Impact was better than some PPVs"

-- 7/9 ECW TV Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: Yoshi vs. Shelton. Worst: Abraham Washington. Even with the mass entrance of new people, last week was pretty okay. This week is one of those shows you wish you could do over. The Bellas are nearly back to square one with the switching gimmick. But with only Katie Lea on the active roster, this will go nowhere fast. Did anyone notice the fan in the background heckling Ezekiel Jackson? Not sure if the one corner spot was a botched whip or a flat-miscommunication on a move. Either way, it looked bad. Looks like Hurricane is getting closer to a re-debut. I'm looking forward to it. I want to like Abraham Washington (even as a heel show host), but WWE has pretty much ruined that. The material he's working with is too cheap and easy. His delivery wasn't as smooth as last week, either. Dreamer kept his cool during the segment, and kept with it during the commentary of the Christian-Kozlov match. I did like how he put over Christian's fan reaction as a hold off on answering the question about facing him. It felt like Dreamer-Kozlov was being pushed, then Christian-Dreamer happened instead. Hopefully we're not looking at another triple threat match for Night of Champions.

-- 7/9 WWE Superstars TV Reax

Hank Schaller, Torch VIP member of Muskegon, Mich. (5.0): First Chavo gets emasculated by his aunt and then he loses to a midget. I smell a firing coming and it's not Hornswoggle. I know new wrestling fans will groan, but maybe WWE should bring back the midgets in force like when I watched the likes of Sky Low Low, Little Brutus, and other pint-sized grapplers like I used to watch at the air conditioned Cobo Arena in Detroit 30 years ago. One tag match in particular had Sky Low Low and Haystacks Calhoun as a tag team. After all, the WWE is trying to be more kid-friendly. The other matches were better than I hoped.

-- 7/9 TNA Impact Reax

Hank Schaller, Torch VIP member of Muskegon, Mich. (8.0): While hardly a perfect wrestling card, this episode of Impact was better than some pay-per-views. It featured the title change in the Knockouts match, the friction between Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett, the predictable, but excellent choice of a guest referee Eric Young with a bone to pick with the King of the Mountain, and the barbed wire beat down of Foley by the Main Event Mafia after the match. I would imagine that the upcoming pay-per-view will feature something like a Texas Death Match between Jarrett and Foley and some kind of attempted retribution against Eric Young. Good show with a few faults, but not too many.
