-- 7/19 TNA Victory Road PPV Reax

Brian Jaffe of Iowa City, Iowa (2.0): Best Match: Styles vs. Nash. Worst Match Of The Year And Maybe All Time: Sharmell vs. Jenna. I got to see this show for free and I still feel like I want my money back. If this doesn't win worst PPV of the year, God help us all. Tara vs. Angelina was generic, and the crowd didn't care. Morgan and Daniels match was pretty boring given the talent that the two guys have. Also, for somebody who the commentators claim is rocketing up the card, Matt Morgan has been hanging around the mid-card for quite some time now. Abyss vs. Stevie was pointless, made worse by Dr. Stevie's terrible music and Abyss's terrible pre-match attire. Team 3D vs. British Invasion never got out of first gear, and was undistinguishable from any other Team 3D match you see on TV. Jenna vs. Sharmell made me long for a Chris Harris vs. James Storm Blindfold Cage match, which is saying a lot. The fact that they got on PPV and the X-Title didn't is a crime. Speaking of, I think that this can be officially declared the burial of the X-Division, as the belt that once main-evented PPVs was nowhere to be seen. Nash vs. Styles, as mentioned, was the best match, but not by much, and it really hurt Styles to dominate Nash for so long then lose to one move. Steiner and Booker beating Beer Money was essentially the same as Nash beating Styles, and also confirmed that we would be seeing a sweep by the MEM tonight. Joe vs. Sting could have been good, but just never clicked. Taz's debut was so anti-climactic, it's not even funny. The crowd barely cared about him. Angle vs. Foley was okay, but was not worthy of a PPV main event. Overall, while the wrestling itself doesn't warrant the 2.0 that I gave the show, it's the antics and booking that drove it that low. I truly feel that the only way for TNA move forward is to slam the reset button, scrap everything, and go back and try again. Nobody is over, the crowd was silent at this show, the booking made no sense, the young guys were buried, it was just a laundry list of things that a federation can do to kill itself.

April, Torch reader: All in all, I think this PPV kinda stunk up the house except for the Sting-Joe match and Morgan-Daniels match. It was way too predictable and I'm sorry, but Kurt Angle is not the greatest pro wrestler of all time. I am so tired of the TNA announcers saying that!

Hank Schaller, Torch VIP member of Muskegon, Mich. (8.0): This was one of the best pay-per-views I have seen in a while and I would have given it a 9.0, but Sharmell should be dancing like she did for WCW and Jenna should be back on Survivor eating maggots. Both are beautiful women, but even the late Elizabeth could have given them a tussle and she was little more than eye candy and better looking eye candy than these two gorgeous women. While there were no five-star matches on this card, every other match was average or better than average. It was good that Angle was able to gut out his recent injury and give the Main Event Mafia a clean sweep, which is a booking bonanza. Also, I hope TNA didn't break the budget bring in Taz and Bobby Lashley. The reaction from the live crowd was listless. Taz showed none of his old fire and Lashley is boring and should concentrate on MMA where an eventual match with champ Brock Lesnar could make the gross revenue for the recent UFC 100 seem like peanuts.
