Terrie Neilson, Las Vegas, NV (2.0) Best: Jericho-Legacy promo; Mickie-Miz-Maryse promo. Worst: ZZ Top disconnect; Kendrick vs. Lawler. Raw is a live show. I would hope somehow WWE knows of TNA's disaster right now and would have thought to capitalize on it. Is WWE that inflexible that it can't turn its storylines and moments on a dime to get ahead? There were some bright spots in terms of performance. The Mickie-Maryse storyline put Miz back in play, with a sense that Miz may have made that connection. Well, maybe he's being used, but it's a connection at least. The Jericho-Legacy promo made sense with the mystery of Jericho's partner still hanging over their match. Unfortunately, the promo left me with a Holly Switch vibe I can't shake; it's just a matter of which one goes for it. And it feels like Cody's doing the switch. Everything else about the show... sigh ...and it was a PPV lead-in. Thank you, John Cena, for reminding us of the mediocre main event of WrestleMania 24. It happened a little over a year ago (not the two he claimed); I guess some memories fly by that fast. It's not looking to be any more epic this go around. I'm hoping Show getting his heat back in the six-man tag means he won't win at Night of Champions. The Six-Pack Challenge is probably as a good an out for a loss, but it was thrown together. No Primo in the Six-Pack may mean the Primo-Carlito feud gets another chapter in the match. Cole said something about Kendrick to the effect that "Jericho wants someone more on a winning streak." I think Jericho would also want someone who's also more actively wrestling, Cole. That was a completely pointless match. Same with Chavo-Horny III - the "Sharp Dressed Man Match" - and the "Legs" match. Jericho-Henry became the match vs. the fans, and even Chris couldn't drag enough heat out of the crowd. And what was the point of ZZ Top being Guest GM when they were completely disconnected from the crowd. Their reactions to matches weren't reactions, just scripted generic stuff before plugging their songs and tour. I like Billy's tone of voice when booking matches, but that's about all I liked about them. And has anyone noticed how Triple H looks nothing like his Muscle & Fitness cover? (The magic of airbrushing.) Anyone watching him during the match can't help but notice how flabby he looked in comparison. I am so ready for the Guest GM thing to end if someone not affiliated with wrestling isn't the one chosen to run things.
Chrisco 71, Torch reader (3.0): Best match: any segment with Jericho. Worst: everything else. Oh my gosh, this was horrible and I watched maybe 15 minutes of the show and listened to the rest. Jericho's segments were the best, except for why Mark Henry beat him down. Save Us Y2J from this crap. ZZ Top was totally out of their league. The piped in music and air guitar segments were OFF. I'm so sick and tired of Legacy and Triple H/Cena. Get Cole off the air. Please put JR back on! Seriously, I've watch wrestling for 26 years and it finally maybe time to do something else.
Hank Schaller, Torch VIP member of Muskegon, Mich. (5.0): Vince, enough of this punishing Chavo because of Aunt Vickie, it's tiresome. It was also obvious ZZ Top, no matter whether they are wrestling fans or not, were somewhat disinterested. Give us guest hosts who want to be there. Regarding Shaq next week, maybe Vince McMahon has an ulterior motive in choosing Shaquille O'Neill as guest host. I can see the dollar signs dancing in his eyes. With all the drug testing in the NBA, it's doubtful this behemoth has ever used steroids. He is just the kind of big man Vince thinks is the key to making money. Shaq has also grown used to the spotlight.
