ECW TV Reax #1: "For the most part, it was a good old-school show ... then the 'main event' segment happened"

-- 7/21 ECW TV Reax

Erik DiMera of San Diego, Calif. (7.0): Best Match: Shelton vs. Goldust. Worst Match: Zeke vs. Jobber. Decent show where Shelton, Yoshi, Zeke, and the main event guys looked good. I always love watching Shelton wrestle. He and Christian are why I watch the show. Regal sold well for Yoshi and Zeke is being given the squash treatment for a while. Wouldn't mind more Katie Lea, though. Hopefully it's not Christian vs. Kozlov at Summerslam, but a show-stealing Christian vs. Shelton re-match.

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: Yoshi vs. Regal. Worst: Abraham Washington Show (default?). For the most part, it was a fairly good old-school show. Then the "main event" segment happened. To get there, there was a very nice match between Yoshi and Regal. Regal tees up some quick and sweet "I despise foreigners" heat in a melting pot arena (with priceless response when it works). Strangely ironic that he would despise foreigners when for all purposes he is one himself, but that's a tiny quibble. Tatsu's finishing kick was caught by the wrong camera making it look bad. For a theater in the round, WWE is hell-bent on shooting from one side. Ezekiel Jackson could only be trusted with three moves for his jobber squash, and even those took forever. Kozlov vs. Jackson is going to be horrible if they work toward it. As far as finisher vs. finisher goes, Kozlov has Jackson beat (there is a larger window of escape or reverse in Jackson's finisher). The Ask The Divas segment show have been
replaced, but with the roster there is, we'd have a choice between Ryder vs. D.J. Gabriel (assuming Gabriel is still part of WWE) or yet another Bella switch match. Or...how about a promo from Zack Ryder, who's been on a roll with his character? Sheamus got time; why not Zack? There is some interesting mix and match possibilities involving Burchill, Goldust, and Reks. Reks finally gets a win; now he needs a finisher fitting his gimmick. Benjamin was due a win, but the Benjamin-Goldust finish was botched by bad timing. It should have been a straight up throat thrust as opposed to Goldy's usual delayed one. The Dreamer-Christian title match was completely upstaged by Abraham Washington. Christian and Dreamer got in their last bit of tension heading into Night Of Champions (and thank goodness it's not another triple threat), but Washington got more time than they did. I don't know who really should be slapped: the writers for the crap being said by Washington,...or Washington, Dreamer, and/or Christian for not
standing up and refusing the segment?
