-- 8/10 WWE Raw Reax
Rory of Pa., Torch reader (10.0): Best: D-X skits. Worst: Sgt. Slaughter. Canada is a strange place for wrestling events; everything is always different there versus in the states. I thought this Raw was very good because we finally got a heel guest host, but I am not a fan of Slaughter. He, in my opinion, is one of the most over-rated superstars of all-time. I will never understand how he is in the Hall of Fame while guys like Ted DiBiase and Jake Roberts aren't in. I enjoy DX being back because it gives Triple H something to do other than hold or chase a title. He needed a character change very badly and even if it is recycled, it is welcome. Definitely liked the Miz coming back. I think he would be more lost on Smackdown than he was on Raw (or is). I mean, Smackdown has new talent they are trying to get over like Dolph and Miz who would take away from somebody like The Miz. I hope he uses that "Calgary Kid" finisher more often because the Reality Check is not devastating enough. I like that Legacy is actually winning regardless of if being in handicap matches. They need to talk more, though. So do MVP, Swagger, Kofi, and Bourne. I think Summerslam - or fest or however you want to say it - should be a very good show. I haven't said that in a while about a PPV. Another final note. Kelly Kelly should turn heel because her smiley character is getting old. She is the most talented women on the roster and should be facing Mickie for the title.
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (-10.0) Best: nothing. Worst: DX reunites (sorry, Shawn, that I have to do this). Raw comes to the Thomas & Mack two weeks from tonight, and after tonight I'm debating selling off my ticket! Shawn Michaels will need until at least Wrestlemania 30 to undo the damage his credibility took in just three segments time. Even my markish friend hated Shawn "kicking" the bratty little girl (she understands the illusion). I could understand burnout as a generic explanation in lieu of starting feud, but persuading Shawn's return in the fashion shown tonight was just plain ridiculous. And Shawn, you weren't wearing a hair net, so don't preach what you weren't practicing! The divas match was all sorts of sloppy and the crowd crapped on it for good reason. Lawler went right to work trying to justify the "bizarro" Canadian crowd, but Slaughter patriotically heeled all over the crowd killing Lawler's explanation. Jericho "getting caught" heeling on Canada came too little, too late. Bourne is about done with any push there may have been for him; we'll see for sure when Raw in St. Louis (Orton and Bourne's home). Swagger-MVP moved along another step toward a match next week. Miz gets himself back to Raw by way of a pole match. Normally, I piss on pole matches, but I'll take this route with the returning Eugene getting a storyline to go with it. Henry/Horny vs. Legacy was just a stupid way to put over Rhodes/DiBiase going into the DX-Legacy Summerslam match. Jericho/Show vs. Cena/Orton was right there to be seen, though there was some nice intrigue at the end. Raw was in Canada tonight, which explains the brief "We Want Bret" chant and the DX segments being taped (wonder if the crowd actually saw those). What is WWE going to do October 4 when the HIAC PPV is at Bell Centre (or anywhere in Canada)? DX will likely be in full swing them, just as they were when things went sideways in 1997. I really wished Shawn would have waited...or at the very least have returned doing something else.
