WWE Raw Reax #5: "Here's a tip for WWE: when a hockey logo gets more of a reaction than two wrestlers, it's time to stop the feud"

-- 8/17 WWE Raw Reax

Tyrone Dudley of Salem, Va. (6.5): Best: Freddie Prinze, Jr actually showing some excitement; U.S. Title match. Worst: Swagger-MVP; SuperCena. Raw was actually pretty decent. I loved seeing Freddie Prinze, Jr. actually caring about putting on a good show. He looked like what a regular fan would be like if they hosted Raw. Also his revelation of a lumberjack match showed, wait for it, actual passion. I actually believed he was pissed at Orton. Santino was golden with his comedy. So glad Kofi Kingston and Carlito actually got to show their skills. I can see that match happening a couple more times this year. I was disappointed with the ending of the Divas Title match, but at least they got two ladies who can actually wrestle. Maybe next time. I pretty much had a conniption when the Swagger-MVP whatever you want to call it (I refuse to refer to it as a match) just appeared and ended before the camera finished zooming in. Here's a tip for WWE: when a hockey logo gets more of a reaction than two wrestlers, it's time to stop the feud. Horny-Chavo has run its course. Vince needs to let go of the Vickie situation. She has a right to leave and taking it out on her nephew makes him look foolish. However, I did pop for Macaulay Culkin. I don't know about anyone else watching, but I think Legacy's attack on DX was brilliant. In fact, I watched it over and over on my DVR. The fact that SuperCena can get up from an RKO and beat up the tag team champs within a minute is ridiculous. Your world champion's finishing maneuver should be the KO blow, not a glancing shot. I'm begging WWE to elevate SOMEONE other than Triple or Cena after Summerslam to face Orton. I don't care if it's HBK, Kofi Kingston, Hornswoggle, Jerry Lawler, Josh Mathews, or The Boogeyman...just someone else other than those two.

Adam Riemer of New York (5.0): Best: Freddie Prinze Jr. being actually a good host. Worst: Jericho taking fall after fall; the plot holes in Randy attacking Freddie. First let me say that Freddie Prinze Jr. was a very good guest host for the small amount of time he was on TV. It is a shame that out of all the celebrity guests hosts, he is the one who received the least amount of time on TV. His mic skills were good and at the end when he cut the angry promo on Randy, I actually thought he would make a decent GM. That being said, I have a very big problem with the plot holes that came about after Randy attacked him. Doesn't the guest host on Raw have unlimited power? Didn't Batista threaten to fire Randy Orton if he laid a finger on him? Why didn't Freddie book Randy in a three-on-one against Cena, Show, and Jericho? Why didn't he strip him of the title and/or fire him? So many questions come of this, and it was something that could have easily been explained. Even though the Miz was given a good win, they are just burying Evan Bourne. Looks like Bourne is now in the same class as the babyface version of Kane, meaning the company doesn't feel he needs to win to stay over with the fans so they use him to push other stars. Swagger and MVP should be feuding for the U.S. Title, plain and simple. The DX return felt like just another night in the office. Nothing was fun, nothing was surprising, and I just didn't feel like it was a special moment. The video package they had was great, but DX has reunited like 20 times since the Attitude Era. It just didn't do anything for me. The final real issue I had with the show is that Jericho is taking such a back seat in WWE right now, it's ridiculous. He has been the guy to take the fall on Raw now for two weeks and it just isn't right. I actually hope him and Show lose the titles so he can go back to Smackdown and be a top heel alongside Punk.
