ECW TV Reax #1: "With this ECW Reunion underway, it would be good for Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne, and C.M. Punk to beg Tiffany to keep them on ECW"

-- 12/15 ECW TV Reax

John of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Writer. (4.0): Best match: Kozlov vs. Zeke. Worst: Croft & Barreta sqaush. Great opening segment with Christian and Shelton Benjamin selling their ladder match at Sunday's TLC pay per view and Shelton asking for his rematch, only to have their mutual praise society interrupted by William Regal, who for my money has the best promo skills besides Chris Jericho. Ring announcer Savannah very good. She's a vast upgrade over Lauren Mayhew. I'm still having trouble getting into Croft and Baretta, whose name makes me think this is a cross between a '70s action series and music group, but I liked the cockiness Baretta displayed on the mike. But DX on ECW? I was hoping they would have surprised us with an appearance since this week they were in Laredo, Texas, which is driving distance from Shawn Michaels's San Antonio residence. I was kind of surprised by the apparent turn on Vladimir Kozlov by William Regal. This could lead to a face turn by the Russian. It looks like stereotyped Communist heels have gone by the wayside, like the original ECW. With this reunion tournament underway, it would be good for Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne, and C.M. Punk to beg Tiffany to keep them on ECW. Funny segment with Burchill and Gregory Helms, whose cape hanging out underneath his suit was very funny. Good thing, No Vance Archer. Bad thing, Abraham Washington show. The tension between Abe and Tony Atlas leads me to think there will be a match eventually involving the Hall of Famer and a person of Abraham Washington's choice. That would be good to see for fans who remember Tony Atlas as not a laughing buffoon sidekick, but one of the most powerful and charismatic African-Americans in the business.

Richard Hougland, Torch reader: What was up with the stoppage of the ladders match for the ECW Title? Was it really mandatory as Stryker alluded to? Or was Christian just hurt hard way and they needed to patch him super quick so the match could continue? Whatever the reason, they did not steal the show, but they did give a solid match except for a few slip-ups. It was good to see Drew McIntyre getting a push and Morrison helped carry their match to a solid two-and-a-half stars. The chairs match was as disappointing as I thought it would be. Sorry, Batista, but I am just not that into you as a heel or as a face. The Undertaker can still hit the highspots, but we have seen it before and before and before and before and over again. Only the faces change. The surprise of the show was not that Cena lost his title in a gimmick tables match, but that he did not cash in his re-match clause immediately, which he promised on previous Raw shows. Kofi and Randy Orton stole the event until that point, as they kept the crowd in suspense for their entire match and no one knew who was going to prevail. An excellent performance. However! While DX and JeriShow tore down the house and the ring and anything else they could get their hands on - I particularly loved the half-a-ladder bit that both teams milked to the maximum - the match showcased four veteran superstars all arguably near their expiration date as main-eventers. Again, the match was a Match of the Year candidate, but does anybody think they were the only combination of stars that could have pulled it off?
