-- 12/17 WWE Superstars Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: MVP vs. Swagger. Worst: replays. Okay, I've been told I occasionally put a little too much thought into storylines and where they should go. Superstars tonight was okay for what I saw, mind you. That dropkick from Mike Knox on Shad was mighty impressive, at least Cryme Tyme and Hart Dynasty weren't facing off yet again, and Ziggler didn't take the pin, but he still lost another match. The only attention paid to it was the commentators musing about his ego getting in the way. Archer-Dreamer was a longer match than I expected even for it still being a fair squash. That said, Archer still seems to be spinning his wheels. I just have the feeling that Archer isn't catching on because this gimmick doesn't fit. Past the "intense"ness that's supposed to be him, he's actually pretty generic. I'd almost rather see the former Lance Rock than what I'm seeing now. The replays were okay, but we'll se them on Smackdown, too. So why not get a jumpstart on The Royal Rumble with those factoid videos again? Instead of replays, how about these guys cutting promos on the big Rumble match and how important it is to be a part of it? Maybe these Superstars matches could serve as early qualifiers for the mid-card guys. Those who lose have to win other matches on their respective shows to get in. If MVP-Swagger continues as a feud (it should based on this decent match), let some of their storyline be about who will do better in the big match. A sweet opportunity was wasted.

Justin James of Columbia, S.C., IT professional/author (7.5): Best Match: Cryme Tyme vs. Ziggler/Knox. Worst Match: None. This was a pretty good episode of Superstars, but it was dragged down by the awful Raw Rebound. I hate to say it, but I actually missed the "Ask the Divas" segment! It gives the much-neglected Divas a chance to fill out their characters a bit (The Bellas) or to show us what they are like in real life (Beth Phoenix, Natalya). The opening match was very well done. I was actually hoping (before Todd Grisham brought it up, too) that this would be the start of a permanent Ziggler/Knox pairing. I would really like to see WWE take all of the underused mid-card talent and put together a tag team division again. Jericho/Punk, Bourne/Kingston (or Bourne/Primo), Ziggler/Knox, and Swagger/Ryder all strike me as great pairings. The Dreamer-Archer match was much better than their first. I realized watching this show that John Cena is Tommy Dreamer with superhero powers. Archer may be a heel, but how? They really need to flesh out his character more. Since when does winning matches make you a bad guy? If so, then Mike Knox is a babyface because I don't think I've ever seen him pick up a win. Does he even have a finisher? The MVP-Swagger match was also quite watchable. MVP's boot right before the finish looked particularly brutal, as did some of Swagger’s holds. Swagger has the fire back - the one that died a few weeks after being moved to Raw. Here's hoping that he's on the slow road to redemption. I used to be mad that I wasn't seeing guys like MVP and Swagger much since they moved to Raw. Let’s get real. If you're an MVP or a Swagger fan (and I like both of them!), which would you rather see - a three-minute match on Raw or a 15-minute, two-segment match on Superstars? Guess what, Swagger and MVP have had more total ring time this week than any other WWE Superstar not counting a PPV! Counting the last two weeks, they've had more ring time together than any other Superstar in the last four weeks, and possibly more total TV ring time than an entire episode of Raw, and possible beating Smackdown too. Speaking of more TV time for Swagger, I am really looking forwards to the Yoshi Tatsu-Swagger match on next week's ECW. Swagger has had great matches with Evan Bourne showing that he plays well against the smaller, faster guys. I expect Tatsu-Swagger to be a potential Match of the Month if they are given enough time.
