WWE Raw Reax #3: "Anyone who watched Raw until the end either had a broken remote or thought Glacier was doing a run-in when the fake snow appeared"

-- 12/21 WWE Raw Reax

Matthew Robins of Chicago, Ill.: Best: Polka Dot on Dusty's Santa Suit. Worst: Crowd for not leaving early. On a night following a pretty good TNA PPV, and having to compete against a garbage blowout on Monday Night Football, WWE decided to pull out all the stops. Chris Masters with more airtime than WWE Champion Sheamus, check! Little people with more airtime than the Divas, check! Tiger (Woods) with more airtime than...who cares, with jokes three weeks after the scandal began its brilliant sports entertainment! Bret Hart is coming back at the perfect time. If he was frustrated in WCW, well it's gonna be great when we get to see him put Santino in a figure four leg lock around the outside of the ring post, or better yet...a second rope suplex on Hornswoggle! Where is Booker T? Where is Bryan Danielson? Where are the Unified Tag Team Belts? Where is the wrestling? Anyone who watched this show until the end either had a broken remote control, or thought Glacier was going to do a run-in when the fake snow began to fall. Glacier would have been sweet! The countdown to January 4 continues...

Bob Anderson of Turnersville, N.J. (1.0): If not for the eleven-minute Cena vs. Swagger match, which earns the show one point, this show could have been a Saturday morning cartoon. DX has reached a new low in stupidity, and the rest of the show was just dumb; MVP firmly stays at mid-card level after losing to Sheamus, and everything else was just filler; it was neither sport or entertainment. This was an open invitation by WWE to tune in to TNA on January 4.

Terry Thacker of Reynoldsburg, Ohio (0.0): Didn't this used to be a wrestling program at one time? The Tribute to the Troops video makes you feel good about WWE, but then a show like this one (and many others recently) makes you feel embarrassed. The "court" segment with DX along with anything that involves Hornswoggle fuels the fire of anyone who says "pro rasslin is stupid." How could anyone working for WWE possibly watch a reply of this and think it was suitable for wrestling fans? There is no more "must-see" WWE television. It's been dead for a long time. We saw the same "programming reset" from WCW years ago when Russo and Ferrera took over. Let's hope TNA can save wrestling fans and gets it right this time.

Colin Johnson of Kalamazoo, Mich. (4.0): Best: John Cena vs. Jack Swagger. Worst: Anything that had to do with DX. The past two episodes of Raw are proof that Vince isn't taking TNA seriously. The only reason this week's Raw wasn't as bad as the Slammy Award edition was because this Raw was limited to the standard two hours. First, we started with Johnny Damon being interrupted by a Tiger Woods spoof that was the usual tasteless comedy we've come to expect from Vince McMahon. Little People's Court was terrible, I don't understand how kids find that stuff funny. At least WWE was nice enough to recap the angle at the end of the show, though. The six-man tag match was entertaining and it was nice to see Evan Bourne get showcased so well. Cena vs. Swagger was also a huge surprise to me, as I fully expected Cena to squash Swagger the way he did Punk last week. However, Michael Cole had two quotes that really stood out to me during the match. The first being "Cena is a role model for the children of the WWE Universe," further proving that the WWE is targeting kids. This is why you heard next to nothing when Johnny Damon mentioned Bret Hart's name later on in the show, none of the kids know who Bret Hart is. The second quote from Cole was about how Swagger was looking to upset Cena because Cena was "on top of the mountain." Really? I could've sworn Sheamus was the champion, and that would put him on top of the mountain. Why does WWE continue to give guys like Sheamus, Jeff Hardy, C.M. Punk, etc. upset title wins with horrible follow-up? The final segment sucked. Why would DX help out all of the little midgets in the first place? In addition, what did Hornswoggle do that HBK said was "big?" Another bad edition of Raw. My advice is to tune into Spike TV on January 4.
