Pete Hedderson of Sudbury Ont. (0.0): Best: closing credits. Worst: The Whole show. I've watched every episode of Monday Night Raw for 16 years and this was by far the worst one I've seen. While I enjoyed the tag team match and the Cena vs. Swagger match, all I can think about is the horrible skits that plagued this show. The DX comedy vignettes were obviously geared towards nine-year-old children and I can't picture them rolling around on their couch laughing with mommy and daddy. I can understand Vince wanting to water down the product because of his wife battling for a Senate position, but this is too much. It almost seems like he's giving the finger to every fan WWE gained during the Attitude Era. Seeing Big Show sitting on Santa's lap and watching Jericho get attacked by midgets made me embarrassed to be a wrestling fan. Bret Hart must really need money to be signing up for this.
Barry Gilbert of New Orleans, La. (2.0): Best Parts: Cena-Swagger, Six Man Tag. Worst Parts: Everything Else. In just reading about this show here on the Torch, I can't believe how bad this show was. You take away Cena-Swagger and Evan Bourne in the six-man tag and this show would have been the absolute worst Raw ever. And over the years, there have been some really terrible Raws. There was absolutely no need for all those stupid skits and backstage segments. When there could have been some more matches in place of the skits, then the show could have been at least halfway decent. Unfortunately, this is the mindset of the McMahons right now to make it more for the kids and not caring who they turn off with this crap. The problem is that for all the people they turn off with this non-sense, there are still a lot of people that will keep watching the shows and buy the PPVs. So they figure, they can keep writing this garbage and people will keep watching, no matter what because they don't know any better and figure WWE is the only wrestling there is. Dixie, Hulkster, Jarrett, Russo, et al., whatever you do, please, no matter what you come up with, please, keep the writing intelligent. Please.
Tyler England of Glasgow, Ky., student (7.0): Best Match: Cena-Swagger. Worst Match: Masters-Carlito. Well, to sum it all up, a much better show than last week. More quality matches and less filler/campy segments (with the exception of Little People's Court). Strong Points - Damon: I thought Damon did his job, but could have been better as a heel. His opening monologue definitely reflected that. His other appearances throughout the show were obviously pre-taped, so I'm sure he got the joy of being able to retake two-three times. Cena vs. Swagger: A great match between two wrestlers. Cena sold great for Swagger and Swagger got a great amount of offense. I believe we are starting to see the elevation of several Raw mid-carders, with MVP facing the champ and Sheamus being the champ. Orton and Legacy vs. Kofi, Henry, and Bourne: A fun, action packed tag match. Bourne showed here why he should be more than a low carder, and Kofi started his way back up to the top. It's good to see Kofi starting to get over. Sheamus: Nice way to re-establish that Sheamus is still a dominant and remorseless heel. Weak Points - Masters vs. Carlito: I guess Carlito falls right back down the totem pole after being a quick snack for Cena a few weeks back. They let him stand up to Cena with a great promo, then he was taking a loss to pec dance boy. By the way, what is the creative direction of Eve? Closing segment: I'm glad that (hopefully) Jericho gets to come back to Raw. However, DX just had to have the show-closer. The 2009 DX just sucks. They have lame comedy and are too cool to wear their respective tag belts. Little People's Court: Everyone knows why this is a miss. But hey, hopefully it's over. The overall show gets a B- from me. Some great quality matches, but still too much campy comedy.
