Sebastian Lord of New York City (0.0): Best: The Miz beats up Santino Claus. Worst: Everything else. I thought Raw hit an all-time low with its Slammy Awards show last week, but this week's show was just as bad. As of tonight, I'm done with Raw, at least, until WWE gets back to focusing on wrestling. Is that too much to ask? I realize that WWE thinks of themselves as sports entertainment, but they still focus on wrestling for the most part with the occasional campy skit. Now it's become all campy skits, all the time. What happened to the wrestling storylines? Does Raw do storylines anymore? It's just all so pointless and meaningless. What happened to focusing on the titles? Do we even know who's in the main event scene anymore? Where are the No. 1 contenders to the World Title? Who's competing for the U.S. Title? Why isn't The Miz being challenged? The final straw for me was Chris Jericho in a Santa suit and later having to fight off a group of little people. Are you kidding me? I'm done. I watch both WWE and TNA but starting on January 4, it's TNA exclusively for me, at least until WWE decides that it's a wrestling company again. Yeah, TNA can be frustrating at times but at least I get my wrestling fix. I can't remember the last time I felt about a WWE show the way I felt after TNA's Final Resolution. I felt rewarded. WWE doesn't do that for me anymore.
A.A Norman of Tulsa, Okla. (negative infinity): Worst: Damon as guest host. Even Worse than Worst: Little People's Court. I have finally done it - I have canceled the option on my DVR to record Raw every week. My viewership is no longer guaranteed and for the first time in years. After Johnny Damon nearly caused me to change the channel, I stuck it out until Little People's Court started. I was officially finished for the night. I watched hockey on Monday night for the first time ever. The end of the Dallas Stars vs. San Jose Sharks, where a Stars player accidentally hit the puck into his own team's empty goal to lose the game, was a lot funnier than the DX skit with Little People's Court. Hockey was unintentionally funnier than DX. Someone please tell WWE that having athletes as guest hosts might get you a few seconds on ESPN's SportsCenter, but it was no way to start a two-hour show if you hope to retain viewership. Here's hoping Raw's ratings dip into the 2.0's to send a message.
Jarel Barnes of Virginia Beach, Va. (1.0): Best Match: Cena vs. Swagger. Worst: Everything else. Again, WWE Raw manages to find a new way to get even worse. I wonder if the main objective is to constantly put poorly-written shows together to encourage people to watch TNA on Jan. 4 as a subliminal way to make room for competition. The guest host was beyond horrible and made Dennis Miller look like Stone Cold Steve Austin in terms of charisma. He's a baseball player and obviously has nothing to do with wrestling and did nothing the whole night but let the Secret Santas do their "holiday bidding. This show gets a 1.0 because of a couple of ideas. First, the idea of Little People's Court is beyond asinine, but the way they filmed it I admit made me laugh with the whole "under the ring concept" and let's not forget the plugs for the lights in the
dark were pretty funny. Second, the legends as the Secret Santas wasn't the most horrible idea ever thrown on a Christmas special. It began to go wrong with the whole "mistletoe" idea, which was straight up weird. Carlito and Chris Masters do not work well together as a tag team or against each other, as the chemistry isn't there. Cena's match was decent and not too bad. Kofi Kingston picking up a victory in that tag match was nice to create some buzz for his character. The diva segment was poorly done and seen in previous years. How many times do we need to see divas in Santa suits? I did find the JeriShow Santa segment dumb because it didn't make sense to have Jericho back because he was banned. I do have a wish for Christmas that TNA comes full circle with Hulk Hogan and crew to give people another choice.
