ECW TV Reax #1: "If this was indeed Dreamer's last match, it's too bad WWE didn't think much of him to at least say good-bye"

-- 12/22 ECW TV Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: Swagger vs. Tatsu. Worst: replays. ECW had an "off-day" with the show, but not nearly as much as Raw did. There was pretty good focus on the ECW Title match with Christian for the Royal Rumble PPV. If this indeed was Dreamer's last match, then he put over the right guy. Too bad WWE didn't think much of him to at least say good-bye (if it's true). Washington's show had a face moment where I actually liked him and his performance. He doesn't need to go as arcane and deep as Dennis Miller's material, but he could still better that the cheap and easy humor he goes to. Instead of going outside of WWE for humor (the Tiger humor was old before it ever came out of anyone's mouths), why not stay within? Drop some names that could use a mention (like the MIA Shelton Benjamin). Barreta and Croft weren't spectacular, but this live introduction was needed to let the crowd decide for themselves where they stand with this new team. I expected Archer to go over Goldust, but I was expecting a longer match. Maybe taking out the Cena/troops video package would have sufficed. Cena is Raw and the Troops show (which wasn't a one-man show) is now over. I'm surely not looking forward to Kozlov-Jackson II come Superstars, but it was fair to give that storyline some attention. I haven't read anywhere that Paul Burchill was "future endeavored" (yet), but I haven't heard any "takers" for him on Raw or Smackdown in the storylines. I would like to see some kind of follow-up. If only Raw was like this show; I still wouldn't be rolling my eyes over the two hours I lost Monday.

Matt Valcho, Torch reader: The ECW Homecoming is a great idea bringing back former ECW champs to face the stars of today. Advertised properly, it can do some wonders for the show. The ratings went up last week for the debut and frankly, I'm really liking it. WWE could bring back some great wrestlers that made impacts on ECW in the past like The Big Show, Matt Hardy, Mark Henry, and a few others. I doubt it will happen, but if they were to bring RVD to win two matches, they could get some Royal Rumble buys just to see RVD vs. Christian. Wrestlers like Yoshi Tatsu and Vance Archer could be the future of the brand and putting the light on them by having them win these tournament matches is a good way to push them. In addition, the fact that Matt Hardy and Evan Bourne will be on next week actually makes me want to watch. My guess is they put the belt on a non-ECW star.
