TNA Impact Reax #1: "TNA should get a fourth hour from Spike on Monday and re-run most of this special that I doubt anyone watched"

-- 12/31 TNA Knockouts Impact Reax

John Bragg of Burke, Va., schoolteacher (10.0): Best Match: Angle-Styles-Daniels. Worst Match: None or the Hogan promos I fast-forwarded. My mother-in-law, a wrestling skeptic to be polite, was impressed by the Knockouts and by Styles, Angle, Wolfe, and Daniels. Hamada, Kong, and ODB all delivered in the ring. My wife thinks Roxxi's top is a size too big for her, but I just find her entire look generic. Screw going live on Monday, TNA should get a fourth hour from Spike and re-run most of this special that I doubt anyone watched. Let WWE re-hash the past with Bret Hart. TNA can show the largest audience they will ever have the best they have to offer. Hogan can do his entrance, then MC the segments to replace the "Hogan is coming" promos for Jan. 4 and just tape a regular Impact that day for Thursday's replay slot.

Lane Stepan of Atlanta, Ga. (3.0): Best Match: Styles-Joe-Daniels. Worst Match: none. Yeah, I have no life and lost a couple hours trying to watch impact on New Year's Eve. I got about an hour in and got bored. Then I told my wife I had a reason to drink. Now I know why they keep wrestling shows to an hour and no more than two. Hard to give a "Best Of" show a 3.0 rating, but there was just nothing that stood out. Joe-Daniels-Styles from Turning Point was good, but I've seen it before. The Knockouts used to be so much more exciting than they are now. I don't know what happened to the Knockouts, but they've become very predictable and boring in the last six months. I checked back in sporadically the rest of the night and caught the Kurt Angle-Desmond Wolfe match from the November PPV. The match was technically great, but I thought it lacked something called emotion. Kurt Angle looks like he's been on a Jenny Craig diet. This was the first time I'd really seen Wolfe and I was highly unimpressed. Doesn't TNA have a costume designer? Wolfe was dressed in drab colors and black boots. I thought I was watching an independent show down at the local National Guard Armory. Wake up, TNA. You're going head-to-head with WWE on Monday night! I caught the Jarrett apology to Dixie Carter. Five months go by and when he makes his big return, he ends up apologizing to Carter and Angle? For what? That was never explained. Just another example of TNA booking. Confusing. The only thing that will save TNA is a total change in booking direction and company strategy, which would include a major house cleaning. Impact had nothing that made the show stand out and that's a bad sign moving into a major showdown with McMahon on Monday night. Hogan has his work cut out for him.
