Adam J. Grammas of Westchester, Ill. (10.0 Raw) Best: Return of Bret Hart. Worst: Not even Bret. That whole score is for the return of Bret. Well, I DVR'd the whole show, and of course it cut off just before the Vince McMahon nut shot. Luckily, I was able to witness the world's most awkward hug. That was the most non-committal hug on Bret's part and it made me crack up. I'm still surprised Bret agreed to all this, especially with HBK saying he deserved it. But I have to say that if this wasn't going to continue on with an angle we would have all been ripped off. When all the guest-hosts like the Cubans and Timbalands of the world are on, we see them throughout the show. Other than the opening and the ending, we saw a very brief scene with Y2J. That's it? I would have liked to have seen him interacting with others backstage. And even though we were short changed on Bret, it didn't seem there was much else happening in the show. There weren't a whole lot of matches, but the interaction with HBK was worth watching.
Terry Kozak of South Detroit, Mich., escort agency owner (9.0 Impact): What an unbelievable show! The excitement that Hogan brings (and I'm not a Hogan fan) is exactly what TNA needs. I personally am more interested in what Bischoff's character adds. Glad you dumped on him, Vince. Vengeance will be sweet. The Angle-Styles match was as good as any PPV match I've seen in ages. At one point, Taz talked about how there was no wrestling like this on television right now, so out of curiosity, I flipped to see WWE for a few seconds. Taz was right. No comparison. Having tired of DX ages ago, TNA brings me hope. Also, the TNA ending where you're left wondering if you will have to deal with the good Hogan or the evil Hogan was the perfect twist. Now, I'll check out some of the WWE Raw re-run but, to be honest, WWE hasn't produced in ages. All I want to see is Bret Hart for a few minutes because, at age 50, I'm a little too old for the WWE product. TNA has attitude!
Jeff of Boston, Mass. (8.0 Impact and 3.0 Raw): Thanks to the magic of DVR, I was able to watch both Impact and Raw almost entirely. Best Match on Impact: Angle-Styles. Best match on Raw: DX-JeriShow. While both shows were guilty of a little bit of '90s retro overload, TNA pulled it off better. It was also more excusable for TNA, as it was all about making an "impact" for them on this one night, and that meant recognizable big names. Sure, if Hall/Waltman/Nastys become the centerpiece, then there's a problem, but that's unlikely. TNA kept the pace going, left me wanting to tune in again to find out what's next with Jarrett, Foley, Wolfpac, and Hardy, and they simply entertained me. WWE blew it. Seeing Hart and Michaels center ring was surreal, but the payoff seemed to be more about them coming to terms for real than entertaining us, because it wasn't that great. The rest of the show was your typical paint-by-the-numbers Raw. Same people, same match-ups, same lame DX/Hornswoggle, and DX getting over just like every week. TNA wins hands down just for feeling different. WWE should be worried.
