Torch Feedback WWE Raw Reax #2: "WWE should call it Monday Night Background Noise - that's how closely I feel compelled to watch Raw when nothing on the show matters"

Daniel Jackson of Albuquerque, N.M. (4.0): Best Match: Cena vs. Orton vs. Kofi. Worst Match: One of the Divas matches. I'll keep this brief. Nothing has any consequence on this show anymore. And since nothing on the show matters, it leads directly to apathy from myself, as a consumer. I'll watch the show, but forget most of it tomorrow. They may as well call it "Monday Night Background Noise," because that's about how closely I felt compelled to watch the show. There is almost nothing compelling about the show right now. The only exception may have been The Miz. His promo ripped me out of the Monday Night Haze for a moment, and then they followed it up with more nothing-happening filler. That's largely what the show is. It's like they're afraid to build to anything meaningful or star-making. Or maybe, to be more precise with my description, they've become an entire company of grumpy old men, terrified of changing a thing about their routine, out of fear that they may end up lost and confused beyond saving. Whatever the problem is, the product is boring the hell out of me right now.
David Miller of Terre Haute, Ind. (2.0): Best match: Orton vs. Cena vs. Kingston. Worst match: Alicia Fox vs. Kelly Kelly. The next time Raw books a guest host, maybe they should make sure he can speak English first. It was painful watching Tyson sway back and forth in the ring while trying to formulate a coherent sentence. The Divas match was just a joke. Neither of the women looked like they belonged in the ring. Henry and Bourne were predictably jobbed out to Legacy. Swagger vs. Santino was mildly amusing, yet predictable as well. The only good thing about the three-way #1 contender match was that Cena didn't win. I have to admit to being intrigued by a match-up between Orton and Sheamus. The segment between MVP and Miz was really good, probably the best thing about the whole show. Eve vs. Burchill was short and pointless. Why does WWE even bother with the Divas when the matches are presented as just something they have to do and get it over with? They teased Bret Hart all night, only to not have him on the show. Any idiot could see the outcome of DX vs. Jericho and Tyson the moment the match was made. Wow, this show was horrible. I've heard more coherent sentences out of post-op lobotomy patients than I did out of Tyson tonight. The matches were rushed and predictable. Spots were missed and moves were botched. I usually enjoy Raw, but they laid a big egg tonight.
Jarel Barnes of Norfolk, Va., college student (00.1): Best Match: None. Worst: Mike Tyson. This was an episode where if you had friends, family, or loved ones watching TV with you, then you instantly became a laughing stock among them. From the opening segment with Randy Orton, Sheamus, John Cena, and Kofi Kingston to the last match that I barely saw due to disinterest, I nearly gagged through the night. I watch any kind of wrestling just for the love of it, but I'm really starting to think Vince McMahon is simply crapping his product up to purposely allow TNA to become competition. Mike Tyson was beyond horrible. He lacked the ability to connect with the audience and he made a fool out of himself. I really was creeped out by the segment with Hornswoggle, as Mike threatened to rip his entrails out - not really PG material. ... I loved how the crowd finally started to chant against DX when things were boring, and they even booed John Cena. It's one town, but perhaps it's a sign that he should change from a face to a heel. The positive from the show is a Randy Orton vs. Sheamus match. Here you have an over heel and an under heel - this only spells for a potential controversy looming at the Royal Rumble PPV. Another thing that I liked was the strong mic work from The Miz. He has really stepped up his game and I hope he blasts to the main event. Overall, though, WWE is slowly but surely breaking down in quality TV by depending too much on the nostalgia of the Bret Hart controversy from 12 years ago.
