WWE NXT Reax #2: "Cole and Matthews's banter is childish, but Jericho kept me from turning the volume down"

-- 3/30 WWE NXT Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best: Pros tag. Worst: yet again giving away the obvious. I was live for this show. Watching it on TV later, the noise that was heard was fairly legit; Sin City is giving the rookies a chance. One person in my group who had never seen NXT (though knows who Daniel Bryan really is) was intrigued by the intimate camera work. I'm not totally in sync with the rankings, but I'd only tweak the list slightly. I hope they'll follow up by showing a full rankings break down outside of the easy-to-mention win-loss records. This would in turn allow the Rookies to interact more with each other over who was better or worse in the other criteria. Barrett being a part of - and put over big by Chris Jericho - in the Pros tag pretty much guaranteed a quick loss in the battle royal. I'm sure he'll take the consolation prize of Jericho's verbal enhancement, though. The show also all but gave away Otunga winning the battle royal. Bryan tipped that in his sideways comment about Otunga's Hollywood ties (that sounded strangely familiar to someone else's ties). Lastly, for the love of God, WWE, please turn Cole all the way heel! I would rather him lose it over why he thinks Daniel Bryan doesn't fit in with NXT than the poor excuse for a sincere comment on Raw about Shawn Michaels being his friend.

Joey B. of New Jersey, artist: Best: Jericho telling Cole he just asked a stupid question and calling him a jackass. Worst: Battle Royal finish. I have to say I felt bad for the Bronze Boy being rated last; he genuinely looked hurt. Ratings in wrestling are always silly to me, and this was no exception. Although I was glad to see Bryan get #1, with an 0-5 record, it really doesn't make sense - almost as little sense as Cole calling him a nerd and ragging on him every week. The banter between him and Matthews is childish but Jericho kept me from turning the volume down. Otunga as host of Raw is a neat twist - I enjoyed the line demanding 427 green M&Ms in his dressing room! - but it's still obvious he needs more seasoning. After the first episode, I wrote that all eight should stay until the end with the winner getting a signing bonus, since we all know that they have contracts already. It looks like WWE is going in that direction a bit which gives the show more credibility. Speaking of credibility, I was surprised that Barrett was the only rookie in the eight-man tag. It was kind of baffling because NXT is more about the Rookies, and they certainly could've used the experience of being in that match. I like the seed of Regal in a heel faction with Barrett being planted for the future. He is so good on the mic and is a master of playing the condescending British aristocratic heel and I often miss his days as the head of Raw.

We welcome your 0-10 score and comments on this show for an "NXT TV Reax" feature in the Torch Feedback section of PWTorch.com.
