Monday Night Reax #3: "WWE had Sheamus, Swagger, Miz, and Otunga as heels getting more heat than TNA champ A.J. Styles"

-- 4/5 WWE Raw Reax

Samantha of Washington, D.C. (8.0): Best Match: Randy Orton vs. Jack Swagger. Worst Match: Divas battle royal. First of all, I am really digging David Otunga. I thought that he really shined on this show, even if he didn't wrestle. The opening segment was hot, and any time The Miz opens his mouth is time well spent. The first tag team match was okay but I didn't really expect much. The second tag team match was fair as well. Michael Cole continues to sound like an idiot, this time by comparing the animosity between John Cena and Batista to Jesse James cheating on Sandra Bullock. I like how the Sheamus-Triple H feud is moving along and a No DQ match at Extreme Rules should be a nice payoff. Are we seeing the return of a tweener Hunter? He hasn't worn that leather jacket since he "broke into" Randy Orton's house. Ted DiBiase has finally found a new role to play and a feud between him and Christian (white collar vs. blue collar) could be great. I would just like to see Cody Rhodes find a character too because I think he is a good worker with a lot of potential. The Divas battle royal was a complete waste of time. Eve is easily the worst Diva on the roster in the ring. Maryse is much better, so hopefully it will be a squash match. Finally, Swagger vs. Orton was good while it lasted. Swagger would not have been my first choice for new star to push, but he's a natural athlete. I was not a fan of the finish, but Swagger got in some good offense and didn't go down easily. The next wrestler pushed, however, should be Miz.

-- 4/5 Raw & Impact Reax

Jay of N.Y. (7.0 Raw): Best Match: Orton vs. Swagger. Worst: The Powerful, Intelligent Divas, what else? WWE is constantly crushed by fans of the Original ECW and Attitude Era WWF for being PG and it is their right to hate on the kiddie Hornswoggle segments and the over-the-top good guy hero John Cena. However, those who spend time crying for the return of chair shots to
the head and the cursing are missing the development and evolution of some really good stories and wrestlers who have clear cut characters and straight-forward motivations that are easy to digest. Orton and Jack Swagger had a really good match that had a backstory and dropped the seed of intrigue heading into the draft that if Orton moves to Smackdown, Swagger would be his target. I can easily see those two main-eventing PPVs in the future. Swagger's role has evolved very well the last two weeks and the loss to Orton doesn't hurt bad because Swagger dominated a long match offensively and showed tremendous amounts of ability. The best is yet to come from Swagger and he looked the part tonight. After Extreme Rules, I fully expect WWE to turn Triple H heel, but I am enjoying his mid-card feud with Sheamus. On this show, WWE had Sheamus, Swagger, Miz, and even David Otunga as heels getting more heat than TNA champ A.J. Styles. Ted DiBiase, Jr. with the Million Dollar belt is awesome. I think WWE could've told a better story, though, if Ted's dad managed him for a while before Ted, Jr. turned on him and took the belt from his father. I'm hoping that Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston, and Christian get something to
work with and aren't shoved aside. ... I also watched TNA and all I have to say is that TNA must have a heck of schedule because no one goes there to become stars. Just ask former stars RVD and Jeff Hardy, who left WWE as red hot singles main event babyfaces that drew huge money but now find themselves in a tag team for some unexplained reason. Never mind that Hardy beat A.J. Styles clean and RVD should be in some kind of fight with Sting after getting beat with a ball bat for some unexplained reason. Speaking of that, RVD heals rather quickly these days. It must be the TNA schedule or some other unexplained reason.

-- 4/5 TNA Impact Reax

Alistair Perry of the U.K., student (0.0): Best Match: Angle vs. Anderson. Worst Match: Rob Terry vs. Homicide. Everything screamed desperate, from the misogynistic teasing of nudity to the over-abundance of blood and weapons. The plot threads are far too complicated: Team 3D cut a fired up promo against Wolfpack, who cut a promo against Hogan, who is focused on beating Team Flair, a team that Flair has no reason to care about since his boy A.J. isn't even in it, and A.J.'s match is with the Pope, who is instead feuding with Desmond Wolfe. I was honestly excited about Orlando Jordan's new gimmick, but leave it to TNA to screw up something that had potential. After last week's criticized O.J. segment (criticized mainly because it served no purpose), TNA repeated the same thing this week, except this time, Rob Terry was staring at O.J. with a furious look on his face. I have no idea why O.J. appeared and no idea why Terry is mad about it. The ladder match was good, but I see no reason why Kurt Angle should risk his neck (literally) for a random Impact episode in a match that had had little-to-no hype. Doug Williams hates the "circus performers" of the X Division, but quite frankly TNA has never defined what the X Division even is, except to say it isn't a weight division. So if it isn't about circus performers, they had better explain what it is about. The Knockouts Title was put in the hands of pure chance in a game so complicated Borash had to explain the rules and prizes over and over. The striptease was probably the worst part, and came off as anything but sexy when Borash told Daffney in a grim tone that she had to strip or she'd be fired. I swear Tenay said at one point while Daffney was stripping: "It's like it pains her to do this." A woman forced to perform a sexually demeaning act even though it pains her. How sexy. I wonder if the parents of the little girl seen clearly in the crowd while Daffney was stripping were proud they brought her to the show.
