-- 5/14 WWE Smackdown Reax

Richard H. of Wilmington, Ohio: Not a bad show. It certainly wasn't Emmy material, or even Slammy-level material. "Best match" nod goes to Beth Phoenix for sucking it up and transferring the Women's Title old-school style instead of some convoluted "lose it without being pinned or in a random Lockbox match." And maybe Layla will finally shine now that she has been given some meat to chew on rather than playing a dancer or glorified valet. But, I'll take bets on how long management lets LayCool be a happy little family before jealousy splits them apart. Is Layla the best choice for a face turn at this point? As for the Return of the Chosen One Drew McIntyre, did anyone really think Drew was gone from WWE Universe? I hoped so, but I did not expect him to be gone. It looks like Bubba the Love Sponge is not the only one to misread go-away heat for legit heel heat. Kofi just needs to win the IC Title at Over the Limit. ... If that was really Jack Swagger's real trophies and not a bunch of mock-ups, (they broke way too easily) I respect his sacrifice. But any champion worth his belt does not let his rival decimate his property like that and disrespect the belt and its current holder. Best wishes to all concerned at the PPV, but it is going up against the series finale of Lost. Can even Vince work that in to the broadcast?

-- 5/13 WWE Superstars Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: video packages. Worst: Maryse/Jillian vs. Bellas. This was pretty much a "blah" episode. Outside of the video packages, there wasn't any forward movement. The matches were just there, though, Chris Masters did all right for his long a match with Dolph Ziggler. Hawkins and Archer, huh? Where has Hawkins been, anyways? The same could have been said for Archer. As a team, they do seem to work well together, so hopefully their mini-storyline of getting past their 30-day contract is just a storyline to reintroduce the wrestlers.

Justin James of Columbia, S.C., IT professional/author (6.5): Best Match: Masters - Ziggler. Worst Match: Bella Twins - Maryse/Jillian. I never thought I would say this, but Chris Masters put on a decent match. I thoroughly enjoyed the main event with Masters and Dolph Ziggler. The highlight was Matt Striker's double entendre, "Zig Zag! Roll 'em up!" Maryse is consistently proving that she is the most entertaining Diva on the roster. She may not stand out in the ring in terms of technical ability (she's a bit above-average), but, wow, does she have the ability to portray her character well. I would really like to see them let her kick it up a notch with her split personality between being stuck-up and psychotic. The most intriguing aspect of the show was the NXT replay, with the highlight on Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson. It is now quite clear that his promo was no accident and that he is definitely moving out and up. We've all been expecting a Miz - Bryan feud, and to be honest, I am really looking forward to Monday to see if it happens.

-- 5/11 WWE NXT Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, NV (7.0): Should I presume the mass eliminations are to be credited to the dropping ratings? I don't understand why they would be low, except for the fact that a wrestling show really isn't science fiction. Tarver getting eliminated didn't surprise me. He was ignored for at least half of the NXT series, then he finally got interesting near the end. Sheffield's elimination surprised me to a degree, but he was getting left out at the end. Misguided was a good definition of Sheffield. I should be mad about Daniel Bryan's elimination, but his post-elimination promo told me why I shouldn't be. NXT wasn't his to win to begin with. Of the other Rookies, the winner gets the first big push, probably gunning for the IC or U.S. Title. Daniel's story - or lack of story - makes sense now. One of the things that the vast majority of smart fans said about Danielson's part in NXT, and especially being paired with Miz, was that this was all beneath him. His experience showed in the matches despite the never-ending losses. His supposed lack of personality and charisma was hiding the real one that will be coming out soon. I could be wrong, but Daniel's "this was beneath me" sounds like something that will be coming soon. Either way, I can't wait untill Danielson really lets Michael Cole have it. If Josh Matthews doesn't beat him to it.
