-- 5/31 WWE Raw Reax
Adam Riemer of New York, N.Y. (8.0): Best: Evan Bourne actually main-eventing. Worst: The whole Zach Ryder nonsense. This was by far one of the most entertaining episodes of Raw I have seen in quite some time. Daniel Bryan and The Miz need to have a very long and drawn out feud, and I am really liking the heel version of Michael Cole when it comes to Bryan. I enjoyed the Vince-Bret face-off, and I can see both of them wanting to work more together since the WrestleMania payoff was poorly done. These two could easily have a fun, drawn-out power feud, but it makes me wonder even more as to why on earth they still have guest hosts. I didn't care that Ashton Kutcher didn't seem to be in the building, as I find him so annoying and over-exposed already. The Zach Ryder stuff was lame, but WWE seems to feel the need to include one really lame skit every episode. Santino and Koslov have a lot of potential to be an entertaining tag team after Koslov's apparent face turn. The Uso-Hart feud has a lot of potential, and it's a shame Carlito ruined his and Primo's chances of being part of a re-energized tag team division. ... Now onto the best part of the night - Evan Bourne. He puts heart and soul into everything he does. And, for the first time in a long time, I find myself rooting for John Cena after his choosing of Bourne as a tag partner. Evan certainly got a nice rub; hopefully WWE doesn't kill him off next week. Also, the Attitude Adjustment that Cena gave Sheamus was just ridiculous. Say what you want about Cena, but his strength is just ridiculous. It was also a pretty cool spot to have him do his finisher, then tag in Evan so he could win the match. Overall, very well done, and if WWE continues to strike when the iron is hot on their younger superstars, then they could really start to build some legit talent for the future.
Jason Stevens Edgewood, Md. (8.0): Best Match: Main Event. Worst: None. This week, WWE made the audience forget about the "roster depth issues" by putting on a hot show with a hot crowd. Personally, I needed that after Jon Lovitz (funny in SNL and not so much in WWE) literally put me to sleep last week. It was nice to see Bourne get the star treatment in the main event. Caldwell hit the nail on the head that the Usos bring some swagger to Raw. It was nice to see WWE bring in Samoans not chewing turkey carcasses or needing an Armando Estrada type to translate. Big thumbs up. Let's see how next week pans out.
Richard H. of Wilmington, Ohio (6.5): Best Match: main event with Bourne getting a push. Worst: Usos & Little Snuka with their promo, although they look good when they're not talking. The McMahon and Hart promo exchange also came off flat. Overall, a good, entertaining show worth a shaky thumbs up. What was up with Ashton Kutcher only being shown on the Titantron? Raw is a mishmash right now with good wrestling matches being mixed in with absurd comedy skits and barely related storylines involving guest hosts. How many people other than Kutcher and Ryder actually care about their Twits? Both the belated pushes of R-Truth and Bourne, along with the very satisfying Daniel(son) victory over The Miz were well-timed and I look forward to where they are heading with it. Smackdown may have "the Anointed One," but Raw has the "Annoying One" in Miz. It just feels good any time he gets pie-faced. Special thanks to Bryan for rendering Michael Cole speechless. We are forever in your debt. One last thought - what was Edge doing in Orton's locker room?
