WWE Raw Reax #1: "The NXT crew looked strong behind Barrett, but the lack of Danielson was like a giant crack in the armor"

-- 6/14 WWE Raw Reax

Jordan Payne of Leeds, England (7.0): Best: NXT angle. Worst: Guest host Segment. Seriously? They reportedly fired Daniel Bryan for choking Justin Roberts with his tie? Other than that (and the general afterthought they made his firing), the NXT angle was great. There was a brief moment after Bret "fired" Wade Barrett that I thought, "Oh crap, they aborted the angle." But the backstage assault more than made up for it. The guest host and Diva "matches," though, just no.

Elliott Rothman of Atlanta, Ga. (7.0): Best Match: R-Truth vs. The Miz vs. John Morrison vs. Zach Ryder. Worst match: Big Show & "Main Event" Mark vs. Ted DiBiase & Virgil. They blew it by letting go of Bryan Danielson. The beginning segment was solid and Barrett showed a lot of potential as a leader who can cut a hell of a promo. The NXT crew looked strong behind him, but the lack of Danielson was like a giant crack in the armor of what would have been an interesting faction. Seriously, in the main event, Edge choked Cena at the turnbuckle, Sheamus applied a chokehold, and the NXT crew kidnapped Bret Hart and slammed him around in a car? But Danielson is "too extreme" for TV? I give WWE another week before they totally blow this angle. Big thumbs down on how this is panning out. Otherwise, a pretty decent show aside from a lot of non-finishes.

Kenneth D., Torch reader (6.5): I have never been compelled to send in my thoughts on a show, but I felt the need to after this show. I have never been more disappointed in WWE than this moment. It looks like Danielson's firing is legit, and that sucks. The NXT group has already lost some steam just from that aspect alone. The first season was built around Danielson and now he isn't there for the storyline? Let me get this straight, it's all right to "kidnap" someone, then engage in vehicular assault, yet choking someone with a tie is a fireable offense? I get it that WWE doesn't want that type of image on the program and I would understand a fine or suspension. However, firing one of your most-talented commodities? That makes absolutely no sense. The actual NXT follow-up was decent. I would give it a 6.5. Without Danielson, though, it didn't mean as much.

Devin Kruse, student. (8.0): Best: Bret Hart got what was coming to him. Theory: Daniel Bryan was the one who was driving the limo. This was another great ending to Raw. After a while, I thought nothing was going to happen at the end. But I sat up in my chair when the lights went out in the main event. I'm thankful the NXT Rookies took out Hart, as I feel he has ruined his Hall of Fame image for sticking around so long. Also, remember McMahon's talk to Hart two weeks ago. I'm betting this is Vince's way of screwing Bret again. Also, Wade Barrett should get his championship match at the end of this or else all that time invested into NXT was for nothing.
