WWE PPV Reax #1: "The finish to the main event made the entire PPV feel like just another episode of Raw"

-- 6/20 WWE Fatal Four-Way PPV Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: Jericho vs. Bourne. Worst: technical difficulties. The crowd started the "Bizarro" theme in the Jericho vs. Bourne match, but they didn't seem disappointed that Bourne won. I wasn't, either, since there is obviously a storyline going on for Jericho to possibility turn. Bourne is deserving of the push he's getting; I wish I made had more faith in it. The Divas four-way was a mess from start to finish, but Alicia winning was a nice surprise. The Harts-Usos match was okay, but had some shaky spots. Kane telegraphed both his general interference and his target. Through naked ears, "all four of you" could easily have referred to the four competitors in the match. But Punk's Straight Edge Society does have four members: Punk, Gallows, Serena, and the yet-to-be-fully introduced Mercury. ... Sheamus's win amid all the chaos pretty much tells me that Triple H is on his way back. His storyline vengeance wouldn't have as much punch without a title involved, and a title match at the Elimination Chamber is what started their feud to begin with. ... WWE was boxed into a corner to continue the NXT storyline by getting them involved in the main event, but having one major title match interfered with by a storyline interruption, then having the main event go the same way was met with what sounded like a "that was bulls---" chant. I can understand why the crowd would do that, but I don't think WWE thought through this. The main event finish made the entire PPV feel like just another episode of Raw.

Richard H. of Wilmington, Ohio: Well that was depressing. Even going into this PPV with low expectations (even John Cena had been quoted as disliking the match format), this PPV managed to disappoint. The closest to a best match was the tech fest between an ascendant Evan Borne and WWE's top enhancement talent, Chris Jericho. Chris, try not to be so obvious the next time you reposition yourself for a shooting star press. The worst was the eminently predictable downer of a Raw title match, which not only saw the foreshadowed attack by the "NXO," but also the devastation of multiple performers allowing Sheamus to take yet another tainted title victory over Cena. ... While the babyface fans were happy with Rey's World Title victory, I think he's the most undeserving "heavyweight" to ever hold the title. Yes, he is supremely talented and athletic, but he is also small. He's barely bigger than Hornswoggle. ... The entire PPV was predictable, I thought, and suffered with phoned-in performances and heavy-handed foreshadowing. For example, Tamina jumping off the top turnbuckle after Natalya rolled out of the way. Jericho, otherwise a consummate pro, was caught repositioning himself for a splash. Aside from the continuation of the "screw job" storyline with Drew McIntyre (like that isn't going to be over-turned), the PPV left a bad taste...and it was over at 10:35!
