Trent C. of Cameron W.V., culinary student: I can't stand it. I feel like the title character in the Eminem song "Stan" while writing this, but, I'm done. Just like Stan, I've given chances and shrugged off one too many things. I had a feeling that Mr. McMahon would be the one pulling the strings. I feel like they're recycling the old storyline with the "higher power" speaking to The Undertaker during the Ministry days. It's tired, expected, and not gonna fly. Also, what I could really consider a dagger in WWE's product is a statement Edge made. He said to Randy, "Now the real fun begins..." What ended? These storylines get the plug pulled on them so quickly; it's too hard to get invested. The final nail in the coffin is how the NXT rebels were presented like heels in the early goings of the show, then at the end, they were cheered for taking out McMahon. It's too early in any of these characters's development to be flipped like that. They lose a lot of credibility when a story gets spun in a matter of three weeks. How can you go from angry rebel - tearing up the set and going for the champ - to being seen in that positive light within a matter of not even the weeks, but within 45 minutes? Nope, not for me.
Adam Riemer of New York, N.Y. (7.0 for the show/10.0 for the overrun): Best: Jericho/Bourne and NXT turning on Vince. Worst: mixed tag. No GM = much better show! Also, no stupid comedy skits and no ridiculous over-acting. I thought this was one of the better Raw episodes in a long time. I really like the pairing of DiBiase and Maryse. They look good together, and I think this is a good move. Lita generated a lot of heat for Edge, and I think Maryse can do the same for Ted. The NXT stuff was pretty well done, I thought. Barrett continues to impress on the mic and their explanation suited me just fine of why they did what they did. Although, I have to say, I didn't like Cena coming out and joking around about losing to Sheamus. He should have been pissed, plain and simple. The Orton-Miz confrontation had me going because I think Orton could give Miz a huge rub. On the topic of Jericho, how good is he? The guy just oozes everything that is right about WWE. His matches with Bourne are fantastic. Evan and he could easily have a feud of the year candidate if they are given the same amount of time that HBK-Jericho and Mysterio-Jericho were given. The story of the night was the NXT attack on Vince. I liked this, even though I hear the concern that it made them out to be babyfaces. But, still, this will keep me guessing on who the Raw GM is. I can't imagine it's Stephanie or Shane. Steph seems more content to be behind-the-scenes making a large family and Shane is gone (unless this is a huge swerve). My money is on HBK (for a surprise and to play on the "only good things will happen" line that was said months and months ago) or Jim Ross. It seems like WWE will reveal who the GM is next week, as it wouldn't make sense for Vince to hold his (or her) anonymity after the attack. At least they have me tuning in next Monday, which is what Raw used to be very good at.
Gary Sartori of Windsor Locks, Conn. (1.5): I really don't know what Vince McMahon is trying to do with the NXT crew, but it certainly isn't working for me. I believe the angle has failed and WWE should cut its losses while it can. There is really no point in watching WWE's product because you know the main event is going to end up with an NXT run-in, playing tag with a 60-year-old man, throwing John Cena over a table, wrecking limos, or doing something else to show how big and tough they supposedly are. The problem is that we've seen this before. The only thing that's different is that seven men are doing the damage, and not one. Excluding the NXT crap, the rest of the show wasn't too bad. Cena-Sheamus was good, but I can't figure out why WWE put the belt on Sheamus again. The guy is a mid-carder at best. DiBiase dumping Virgil was unexpected. Jericho-Bourne was the best match of the night. Lots of believable nearfalls and Jericho's stipulation added excitement to the match. The Great Khali is a bit-player joke. Maybe turning him heel would help. Edge-Orton should be a great summer feud leading to a potential main event at Summerslam. All in all, if it weren't for the NXT stuff, I think it would have been a good show.
