-- 6/28 WWE Raw Reax
Sean Harkin of Derry, Ireland (6.0): Best Match: Eight-man tag match. Worst match: Santino vs. Kozlov. Raw was average compared to previous weeks. The opening segment was decent, although there was, at times, a little bit too much going on. The new GM needs to be revealed soon as that 'alert' sound is going to start wearing thin very soon. There basically was not enough wrestling. The first "match" was a joke. I don't see the point in a comedy match when that time could have been used to advance a mid-card talent like Zack Ryder, who seemed to be gaining momentum. The Legends segment was okay, but I knew the Nexus guys would emerge since they said they would still make an impact and the Legends didn't fit the criteria for firing/suspension. They did a good job of looking intense. The crowd was good, as you could hear "wooos" when Ric Flair's name was left off Arn Anderson's list of best-ever wrestlers. Also, there was a mild "Daniel Bryan" chant during the Divas match. The eight-man tag match was good, as WWE needed to place some emphasis on the PPV, which seems to have a strong line-up thus far. In a way, it was good for the show to end with the MITB participants and in-ring action, as the NXT guys invading had become predictable.
Ron Mexico of Philadelphia, Pa., kennel owner (1.0): Best: Sheamus or Edge on the mic. Worst: yet another Nexus beat down and pretty much everything else. During the first hour, WWE had Sheamus and Cena on the mic, which was pretty good, but we're supposed to believe Cena wants to help Sheamus now? Yikes. And this anonymous Raw GM needs to be revealed soon, as I'm finding myself getting more annoyed with this rather than actually caring who it is. The Santino/Kozlov storyline is rapidly approaching the Chavo-Hornswoggle endless debacle in terms of being pointlessly annoying. If we get Kozlov dressed in a cow suit next week, I am switching to "Everybody Loves Raymond" re-runs permanently. Then, Sheamus makes short of Mark Henry? I understand the reasoning with Sheamus on top, but job Mark Henry? Bad. ... Oh, Raw has a guest host? Just what this episode needs! Well, at least Rob Zombie's appearance didn't last long. On to the women's match, unless we get Maryse on the mic, I can't make myself care about this (snore). As for Nexus beating down the WWE geriatrics, why am I supposed to care about this? The eight-man tag was okay, but it was typical too-many-cooks-in-the-kitchen type stuff. WWE needs to keep up Bourne's push and I would like to see him win Money in the Bank, but I know that won't happen. I see a run as U.S. champ in his future. And WWE should deliver a prolonged feud between Morrison and Miz. I realize WWE has a show full of emails, Santino comedy, and amazing skits involving guest hosts, but come on!
Elliott R. of Atlanta, Ga., web developer (7.0): Best: "Mega" tag match. Worst: Mark Henry vs. Sheamus. This episode wasn't as strong as in recent weeks, but it was still really entertaining and held my interest the entire time. They're not completely botching Nexus - giving them all a bit of a chance to speak is a very good idea to get these guys over, as I don't see the faction staying together six months out - so I'm glad they seem to be showcasing a bit of each of them. Although, we have yet to see any of them in an actual match on Raw since they were "hired" last week. I may actually consider getting the Money in the Bank PPV since the Raw TV main event was actually really strong. Morrison-Edge was a well-matched pairing, and something I would actually like to see more of considering I'm not much of a fan of either of them. Bourne is really shining in the ring. Overall, a pretty good show, and I'm glad to see that they are cutting back the horrible and unfunny comedy. With that said, the Kozlov/Santino spot was hilarious. Along similar lines, I think Sheamus is getting over with his disingenuous promos. The Cena bit at the beginning was a little too over-the-top for my tastes, though.
