WWE Raw Reax #3: "The Guest Host concept has not jumped but leaped the shark"

-- 6/28 WWE Raw Reax

John of Cocoa Beach, Fla. (5.0): Best Match: Eight-man tag. Worst Match: Sheamus vs. Mark Henry. Last night proved two things. First, the Guest Host concept has not jumped but leaped the shark. And that the Nexus without Wade Barrett is basically a cross between the Filthy Animals and New Blood of WCW '00-'01. Without a heel manager/mouthpiece like William Regal, in time, the fans will get bored of the same ambushes each week, which always include a clothesline by Skip Sheffield and end with the 450 splash by Billy Kidman, I mean Justin Gabriel. Why aren't they using David Otunga as more of a mouthpiece? He displayed great mic skills during the Season One show. It might be a stretch, but my prediction is that at WrestleMania 27, the Nexus will be wrestling against another stable of WWE greats, perhaps the reunion of Degeneration X for a final Shawn Michaels DX appearance? Also, the appearances by Arn Anderson and Michael Hayes during the Ricky Steamboat DVD presentation were obvious teasers that they will enter the Hall of Fame. ... Mark Henry is stale now as a face. He needs to go back to being a killer heel. But with the lack of powerful faces on Raw, this isn't yet going to happen until another Draft. Meanwhile, Sheamus has grown as a champ and John Cena's promo last night made me wish he would rap again.

Joe Ward of Raleigh, N.C. (5.0): Best: Sheamus and Cena interaction, Arn Anderson promo. Worst: Divas Match. Okay episode with good advancement of Nexus and Money in the Bank. I am amazed at how OVER Orton is. He could easily replace Cena as the top babyface and he doesn't even get mic time! Evan Bourne continues look like a breakthrough star and I would like to see him in a U.S. title feud with The Miz. I'm having trouble with the Legends beatdown. Not the actual beatdown, as it made storyline sense, but the fact that no one in the locker room would risk a suspension to aid the Legends, not even Super-Cena. Right now, Nexus looks like a bunch of geniuses and the locker room a bunch of wussies.

Chris Cox of Fort Bliss, Tex. (7.5): Best Match: the eight-man tag. Worst Match: Santino vs. Koslov. Raw was passable on all accounts and really should have been at the 5.0 level, but the Nexus group once again stole the show. I personally was sitting on the edge of my couch a few weeks ago when the Nexus debuted and tore up the Raw set. However, the initial heat and shock has worn off. To be honest, this angle has either got to step up with the involvement of the anonymous Raw GM or they need to split up the group. Sheamus and Cena's interaction to open the show was actually entertaining because of Sheamus's obvious concern for his title. I could've done without Cena over-reacting to everything, but he sells to kids, so whatever. Also, I remember when Mark Henry would tear up the roster and now he jobs to everyone in two minutes. The Divas tag match was okay and served its purpose. The eight-man tag match was nice and really showcased the top feuds outside of the title picture. Overall, though, WWE has to do something quick with the Nexus angle or I fear some of them might end up on the future endeavors line.
