-- 9/20 Question of the Day Reax: How long will Randy Orton's WWE Title reign last?
Pablo of Mexico: I think Randy Orton's title run is going to last until maybe the TLC PPV in December, not past the end of the year.
Adam Riemer of New York, N.Y.: Orton's title run is going to last until Hell in a Cell. It's not a long run by any means, but I can see Miz losing to Daniel Bryan again, then, after a hard-fought match against Sheamus in the Cell, a spent Orton will fall victim to Miz cashing in the MITB briefcase. This will lead to Team Miz vs. Team Orton at Survivor Series.
Eric Schwab, Torch reader: I think Randy Orton’s reign will be very short. I see the Miz cashing in the MITB contract either tonight on Raw or following Hell in the Cell. Miz will hold the title until WrestleMania and then Orton wins the championship back.
Derek Foster, Torch reader: I think Orton's title run will go to WrestleMania. There, we will see the unification of the World Hvt. and WWE Titles. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.
-- 9/19 Night of Champions PPV Reax
Eric Gall, Torch reader (5.5): The show about met my expectations. The highlight came when Bryan Danielson won a title in the company in just his second WWE PPV. His match with The Miz was the best of the night, allowing a wider audience to see his unique ability in the ring. It also gave Miz the right opponent and match to validate his ascent up the pecking order. Kane vs. Undertaker was a match-up that was pretty hot ten years ago; I have no desire seeing them now. The match didn't win me over, though I hope the Hell in a Cell PPV will end the feud so Taker can get on with his retirement storyline, ending at WrestleMania. It was weird having Jericho eliminated so early, but I suppose with all the uncertainty with his contract situation, it wasn't unexpected. I have to say that the enjoyment of the match decreased with his absence, though. The treatment of Orton as another superman is really annoying. The company seems to be using a lot of similar metaphors with Orton as a modern-day Steve Austin. The "Legendary" commercials are still being shown, continuing Vince McMahon's drive to turn Cena into his own personal movie star. The company has yet to accept the fact that their current main eventers don't have the star power to make wrestling cool to non-fans like the top stars of the late '90s did. This coupled with the staid, predictable booking style currently in vogue means a static, staid fan base rather than a dynamic, growing audience.
Pablo of Mexico (7.5): Best Match: Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz. Worst Match: C.M. Punk vs. Big Show. Overall, I thought this was a good PPV. Kofi vs. Ziggler was hopefully the last match of this feud that I feel has degraded the IC Title. The match itself wasn't that bad, though. C.M. Punk vs. Big Show disappointed me; I was expecting more from them, but Punk's promo was one of the best of the night. Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz was just an awesome match that had everything - drama, good in-ring action, etc. Last night, Daniel Bryan wasn't in the ring, but rather Bryan Danielson. With the Divas match, I expected more from this match, but it didn't disappoint. Tag Team Turmoill was okay, but I felt they should have put more established tag teams like the Dudebusters and Gatecrashers in the match. I don't like Rhodes and McIntyre as tag team, as I think it's time for Cody to jump to individual competition. Kane vs. Undertaker was good, but Taker looks so tired that I think he's on his last run. The Six-Pack Challenge was a good way to put all of the Raw main eventers in a single match. I'm sure this wasn't Jericho's last match, as he'll come back in the near future. Being eliminated two minutes into a match isn't the way to finish a brilliant career. I liked the fact that Orton won, but I was expecting The Miz to cash in.
