-- 9/20 WWE Raw Reax

Elliott R. of Atlanta, Ga. (7.0): Best Match: Morrison vs. Jericho. Worst Match: Santino/Kozlov vs. McIntyre/Rhodes. This was as close to the Attitude era as it gets without the blood or beer. Miz got real real hot heat, Cole was acting like he was on a cocaine binge, and Ted DiBiase was getting cryptic video messages (from Goldust?!). You can't forget John Cena vs. the world...or just Nexus. It was definitely a different style episode than we've seen recently, for better or worse.

Joey B. of N.J.: I switched to the Yankees-Rays game mainly because I find Michael Cole so incredibly annoying. I believe the expression is "go away heat" not "good heat." And why was he so obnoxious to the Hart Dynasty? What was the point of it? I sure miss JR. I watched Daniel Bryan's match and have lost count how many times I've seen him get annihilated in a one-sided bea tdown. There's only so many times you can watch that and not give up on the guy. Cole did his same, stale shtick but actually pronounced vegan correctly. Ron Truth's "What's Up?" entrance music got the best reaction of all and they change it? Eve has greatly improved; it's clear she's worked hard. Does anyone else find Randy Orton's monotone, repetitive promos somewhat boring at this point? He presents no range; it's always the same cadence, the same snarling, ready to snap, angry tone. He's a face now and says, "I'd RKO my grandmother to keep this title"? What? As soon as Barrett said "gauntlet," I knew Cena would beat all four guys. Not only did he do that, he then went on to insult them as they just stood there flapping their gums. Just call it what it is and have Cena's next outfit be a red cape and blue tights with a big S on the front. Snore.

Richard H. of Wilmington, Ohio: Finally, a Raw that kept me interested all show. Well, mostly all show. While viewers are still stuck with the ridiculous highs and lows of this form of entertainment, there were a lot more highs than lows last night. The Divas didn't suck, as Layla and Melina had a decent, if short match, with Layla's new finisher looking pretty sick. Michelle on commentary has to go. The announcers and McCool were walking all over each other and you could not understand any of them. Danielson and the Miz cranked up the intensity for their feud, which is probably going to delay Miz cashing in the briefcase until the feud runs its course. Alex Riley is just cannon fodder right now for The Miz in this feud. Will D. Young step up to help the American Dragon? The fodder matches continued with Santino and Kozlov still getting camera time. Meanwhile, DiBs, Maryse, R-Tune, and Eve are being wasted. ... As usual, Raw had a match or two pull the bacon out of the fire and get sizzle back in the ring. Scruffy Morrison and Jericho gave a bravura performance and Jericho is still the best at what he does - enhancement talent without losing his own heat. No one really expected anything different from Super Cena and the evil Snidely Whip-sorry, Wade Barrett-led Nexus faction. But for predictable booking, they did a pretty decent job of it. The match set up at Hell in a Cell looks intriguing if we can suspend our disbelief enough to believe Super Cena won't somehow come out on top. Personally, I look forward to a Nexus faction with an indentured Cena forced to team with them, but it probably won't happen as the WWE writers don't have that much imagination. Finally, down with electronic tyranny - Free Edge!
