-- 9/21 Question of the Day Reax: Would you rather see John Cena join Nexus or see Nexus disbanded?
Will S.: With Randy Orton now the top babyface, this could finally be the time to turn Cena heel. I believe it could play out very effectively. For example, Cena at first could hate helping Nexus cause havoc on his fellow Superstars, but since he is part of Nexus, and there is a clause on him, he has no choice. After a while, Cena could end up enjoying the power and Nexus will become even more dominant with both Barrett and Cena being the leaders, collecting all of the titles. Cena losing would be very intriguing, but if he wins, it will be a total waste of such a great storyline these last few months. There needs to be a change with Cena, and now is the right time.
Colin McKay Miller, Torch reader: I want to say I’d like to see Cena join Nexus, but unfortunately, I think Nexus is done regardless. Even if Cena joins, he won’t heel out, and WWE will find some way to have their Superman take down the group from the inside out. It’s a shame because Nexus is about the only good stable left on the show and I really want to see what happens when a powerhouse like Skip Sheffield returns.
Kaiden Malik of Cleveland, Ohio: I would like to see John Cena join the Nexus because if Nexus breaks up, the members will pretty much be lost on Raw's roster. Michael Tarver will probably go back to FCW, Slater will be a successful mid-carder at best, Otunga will probably be on the roster wrestling Santino because he is so green in the ring, and Skip and Gabriel could go somewhere, but not to the main event. I also fear that Barrett could have the same career as Gabriel and Skip and won't be a main-eventer. Nexus isn't ready to be broken up, but with Super Cena facing Barrett at Hell in a Cell, I fear that's exactly what's going to happen.
Greg of Milwaukee, Wis.: I'm not a Cena hater, so his character doesn't bother me as much as it does other people, but to answer the question, I would rather see Nexus disbanded. I thought after they were defeated at Summerslam, the group was done. They will have to figure out something to do with Cena, as I don't see him figuring into the title scene much now that Orton has it.
Cameron of Austin, Tex.: I would welcome Cena joining Nexus because it would more-than-likely mean fewer Cena promos and more of John just fighting and following orders, which I don't mind. I think that his promo at the end of Raw was good, and him playing a serious character more often would make it harder for the "Cena Haters" to gripe about his poopy jokes and awful gay insinuations. I'm all for a "silent soldier" angle from the guy.
B. Wise of Cleveland, Ohio: Aside from this stip already running this year with Rey having to join SES if he lost to Punk, I guess Cena joining Nexus would be more interesting. Would he be the new leader, or just a reluctant lackey? Or, does he do as he's told and attack with the rest of them. Then again, who are they going to attack? Orton, Truth, Bryan, and Morrison would really be the only top faces left. ... If Cena won, what do they do with all those guys? Speaking of which, where is Darren Young? Two weeks ago, he interrupted the main event, complete with his own Titantron and entrance music. He hasn't been used since.
Dr. George: As fun as it may initially sound to have Cena in Nexus, I think it is time for them to disband. None of them seem to have the staying power of their leader Wade Barrett, who has tremendous mic skills, and most of the successful groups are usually filled with top-of-the-card talent and champions like the Four Horsemen, DX, and NWO. Nexus has none of the above. In the aftermath, I could see a decent Horsemen-type grouping including Barrett and The Miz. That would be fun, as the Miz also has tremendous mic skills. It could lead to the eventual turn by one of them to set up a great program against each other.
Eric Gall, Torch specialist: I definitely say Cena joins Nexus. There's many more questions raised here. Will Cena become the leader of Nexus? Will he constantly be fighting with Barrett for control? Will the rest of the members begin choosing sides? Will he tease elements of heel behavior, or go heel outright? There's a lot of good television to be had with this storyline. It keeps Cena in the spotlight while allowing the new faces of Nexus to be further ingrained in the minds of the fans. In this way, the face of the present WWE is working hand-in-hand with the future. If this happens, members of Nexus could win the tag belts, possibly with Cena being one of the title holders, or also having them defend them under Freebird/Lay-Cool rules. ... Cena joining Nexus is brimming with "what ifs." Nexus disbanding means that each guy will have a new gimmick, and none of them really stand out on their own beside Barrett, and possibly Otunga or Gabriel. There just isn't the same upside with this option as the first.
