-- 9/21 Question of the Day Reax: Should John Cena join Nexus or should Nexus disband?

Jay of San Diego, Calif.: Personally, I think Cena joining Nexus would be a better storyline for all parties involved. It would keep the lesser members of Nexus on TV while they gain experience. You can tell that management wants Otunga to break out, but on his own, they can't hide his deficiencies. For Cena, there are real storyline possibilities that could further develop his character. It could start by having him start trouble and still vow to "take apart the Nexus from within." But, over time, they could start interfering on his behalf in matches. As time goes by, he starts to like it. As more time goes by, he starts to depend on it. Maybe he could win a title match only because of their interference and have to think about what this actually means. If management wants to finally turn Cena, there are stories to be told here. There's potential for Cena vs. Barrett as to who is the real leader of Nexus. The lesser Nexus members choosing sides could help develop their characters further. Or if they don't want to turn Cena, they could explore Cena fighting with himself to still stay "good" and not give in to the benefits that Nexus is giving him. To me, this seems a lot more interesting than Super Cena destroying the group and some potential future endeavors for Nexus members, but I don't think I'm part of WWE's target audience anymore.

Robert of Charlottesville, Va., student: While it would seem logical for Super Cena to win and Nexus to disband, I would not rule out the possibility of Nexus winning. The Bragging Rights poster contains the Nexus "N" in the logo, Cena is already a semi-tweener in terms of fan reaction, and Orton, the company's usual top heel, has now become the top face. Cena joining Nexus would definitely put some much needed juice into the storyline, plus it would freshen Cena's oh-so-stale character. The big problem that I could see with this heel turn is the lack of top faces on Raw. Though John Morrison has been getting a rather large push these past couple of weeks, I don't think the company will let him stand next to Orton as the two top faces on Raw. Maybe if Triple H comes back, but that's a long shot, with his new position and all. So, even though may people would love the angle, I don't think Cena will join Nexus.

Eric Gall, Torch specialist (6.5): I hope they end this Mystery GM business soon because it's run its course. I think they switched plans with where they were going to go with this, as the Rock was supposed to make some appearances over the summer, and they limited the number of celebrity "guest hosts" for this month. Perhaps an irate Edge will come face-to-face with the GM at Hell in a Cell? The Stone-Coldization of Randy Orton continues, as he proclaimed that he'd beat up grandmothers to keep the title. This might be in line with the Jim Cornette "Seven Years" rule in revisiting previous gimmicks, but do you really see Orton showing up on MTV doing commercials like Austin did? ... I continue to be bored and somewhat baffled by Drew McIntyre's push. It's clear that he's just going to be pushed and pushed until he catches on with the fans; that's a shame, because Cody Rhodes has already eclipsed him as a singles wrestler, especially in terms of presenting an effective heel persona. ... I hope Morrison's "Spider-Man" pose in the back doesn't become a regular thing. It was cute last week because it was the first time, but this appears to be a pattern developing. Meanwhile, the Jericho situation seems to change every week, but Jericho getting a title shot to hold over Orton's head would add to the mix of question marks on the show. In my eyes, that's a good thing. ... Putting Danielson on with Miz and Edge at the top of the second hour showed that the company is investing in his character. This is a good sign, and the beat down solidified his Everyman image. Overall, this show was much more interesting than Night of Champions the night before. Hopefully this creates momentum going into HIAC and beyond.

Pablo of Mexico (6.5): Best Match: Jericho vs. Morrison. Worst Match: Melina vs. Layla. This was an okay Raw with fallout from Night of Champions. The beginning confrontation between Randy Orton and Sheamus was a nice way to build hype for the Hell in a Cell PPV in two weeks time, as I'm really looking for Orton vs Sheamus at a Hell in a Cell. Jericho vs. Morrison was a really good TV match; it was nice to see Jericho before he leaves WWE for however long he's gone. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan was only to emphasize the Miz vs. Bryan feud, which I think is getting hot. ... As for the Divas contributions, hopefully this Lay-Cool vs. Melina feud is over. The mixed tag team match was just awful, so no comments on it. ... Nexus vs. Cena ended up delivering strong hype for Hell in a Cell. Having Cena in Nexus would be nice, but I don't think Cena will turn himself heel. I think it has potential to backfire on the equation of Babyface Cena + Money = Happy Vince.
