Benoit story: Results of Chris Benoit brain examination to be revealed Wednesday morning Sep 4, 2007 - 9:12:00 PM
Wednesday morning in New York, medical examiners will reveal the results of forensic testing on Chris Benoit's brain. Participants in the press conference will include Chris Benoit's father, Michael, family attorney Cary Icther, and three prominent medical neurosurgeons who performed the tests.
Attorney Cary Icther said, "This is not a matter of looking for excuses (for the murders). Hopefully, the results will determine what happened and why."
One of the contributing organizations to the study was the Sports Legacy Institute, which specializes in medical research on concussions and brain trauma that can cause dramatic consequences.
Atlanta D.A. Scott Ballard said the results have not changed his opinion of the crime investigation. He stands by the conclusion that there were two murders and a suicide. "I don't expect it to change our findings unless another suspect comes into play," Ballard said. "However, depending on the findings, it could provide us with some more information we can use. It may help us understand why."
Michael Benoit will be making several media appearances this week, including a spot on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday morning.
